Huawei Mate 10 series launched in Singapore

The Huawei Mate 10 Series smartphones are now in Singapore! On October 26, 2017, it was officially launched in Singapore at a prestigious event at the Funan Showsuite. I had the opportunity to touch, feel and try out the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones during the official launch, asking questions on the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones and listening to the presentations by Cheng Jiangfei, Country Head of Huawei Singapore, Consumer Business Group (CBG) and Clement Wong, Director, Product Marketing, Huawei CBG.

Earlier, I shared about the official news on the Huawei Mate 10 series launch in my article here. For this article, I am going to share more on the pricing and availability as well as some personal views and thoughts on the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones from my very short hands on experiences during the official launch.

One exciting news for those who are eagerly waiting for the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones, Singapore will be the FIRST country in the world to officially launch the Huawei Mate 10 Pro for sale!

During the official launch event, we were taken through five experiential zones to explore and discover the Huawei Mate 10 Series ultimate camera, experience, power and speed.

Experience 1: Intelligent Photography

Expanding on Huawei’s partnership with Leica, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series’ dual lens camera is now further enhanced using AI through Real- Time Scene and Object Recognition. The camera is able to detect up to 13 different objects and scenes and intelligently optimises picture settings to deliver unbelievable image clarity.

Experience 2: Intelligence Smartphone Experience

Powered by Huawei’s all-new Kirin 970 processor, the HUAWEI Mate 10 Series incorporates AI enhancements that deliver a speedier, more user-friendly mobile experience. One example is the real-time text translation across a wide range of foreign languages that does not require an Internet connection. Simply take a picture of the text and the translation will be completed without the usual delay that is attributed to a phone requiring an Internet connection.

Experience 3: Replace your PC with Easy Projection

The HUAWEI Mate 10 Series provides a ‘plug-and-play’ virtual PC experience with the Easy Projection feature1. Simply connect a display, keyboard and mouse to the Mate 10 Series smartphone, using an optional USB-C-to-HDMI cable or adapter, to recreate a seamless PC experience on-the-go. The feature is great for making presentations, sharing videos and even updating spreadsheets. During projection, personal notifications, calls and messages are kept on the smartphone device to prevent potential embarrassments and distractions.

I didn’t manage to experience all the five experiential zones to discover and explore the Huawei Mate 10 Series smartphones. I went to the two experience zones that I am most interested in – Intelligent Photography and Intelligence Smartphone Experience.

Personal thoughts and views on the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones

• Although it was a very short hands on time with the Huawei Mate 10 Series smartphones, I reckon the AI powered Huawei Mate 10 Series smartphones would make it easier for us in our daily life, during work or leisure time.
• From reviewing (to owning) the Huawei P9 smartphone, this was the one (for me) that sets the foundations and standards for the subsequent Huawei dual lens camera smartphone models in the Huawei P10 series and Huawei Mate 10 series. After recently reviewing the Huawei P10 Plus, I saw the improvements in the overall aspects of the Huawei dual lens camera smartphone software technology and hardware. The dual lens camera inside the Huawei Mate 10 series smartphones co-engineered with Leica, is just getting better.
• The Porsche Design Huawei Mate 10 Pro is really sleek and beautiful, showcasing the quality and aesthetic craftsmanship of Porsche design and Huawei’s engineering expertise. However, the price is way out of my budget.
• Personally, I would prefer the Huawei Mate 10 over the Mate 10 Pro because I can put a Micro-SD card inside the Mate 10. This would allow me to store my photographs separately without taking up my smartphone storage (from a photographer perspective).
• It would really be nice that I have choices to upgrade from my current Huawei P9, to either the Huawei P10 Plus or Huawei Mate 10. It would be even more awesome if I can upgrade to either one of them now although I am contemplating whether I should hold it out for an AI powered Huawei P11 series smartphones (Yes, I am currently speculating into the very near future)
• Oh yes, if you are a business user, planning to own a Huawei smartphone, the Huawei Mate 10 series is definitely worthy for your consideration!

Pricing and Availability in Singapore 

HUAWEI Mate 10:

The HUAWEI Mate 10 will be available for sale in Singapore from October 28, 2017, in two colours, Mocha Brown and Black.

HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro:

Singapore will be the first country in the world to officially launch the HUAWEI Mate 10 Pro for sale. It will be available in two colours, Mocha Brown and Midnight Blue. The Mate 10 Pro in Mocha Brown will be available in stores and online retailers from November 11, 2017, while the Mate 10 Pro in Midnight Blue will be available in stores and online retailers from November 25, 2017.

PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 10:

The exclusive PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 10 – in its signature Diamond Black finish – will be available for sale in Singapore from November 24, 2017.
