Dell Launched New Latitude 2-in-1s

A 2-in-1 computer is getting more popular nowadays, the best of both worlds, tablet and laptop/computer together, now just for business, also for the everyday user at home or in school too. Dell recently launched new Latitude 2-in-1s to their line-up, while it is designed for the business market, I would also recommend everyday users at home or in school to take a look too! I reckon you would like it!

I have always been a 2-in-1 tablet + laptop/computer supporter, the best of both worlds, ideal for doing work and also presentation. Till date, I have yet to add a 2-in-1 into my computers lineup, I hope to add one in the near future.

Let me share with you more information on the new Dell Latitude 2-in-1s:

Dell has announced a new lineup of Latitude 2-in-1s designed to give businesses a “PC first, tablet second” mobile device experience without compromising on design, performance or security. The Windows-based 2-in-1 category is thriving as companies abandon tablets in the office and place more value on the productivity and flexibility offered by 2-in-1 PCs. Dell Latitude 2-in-1s take it to the next level by offering industry-leading security, manageability and service features that enterprise customers truly care about, including the latest 7th Gen Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors, world-class security via multi-factor authentication, encryption and malware protection, full device serviceability and mobile broadband options.

“A lot of customer feedback factors into the design decisions we make; every detail counts, and for business users it’s the details that matter,” said Kirk Schell, senior vice president, Commercial Client Solutions, Dell. “Some of the design choices that matter to commercial customers are things like optimised displays that reduce power consumption and extend battery life; removable hard drives for data security; IR camera location for video conferences; Wi-Fi antennae placement and use of lightweight carbon fiber materials for durability. We even made sure the trusted Latitude keyboard wasn’t compromised because we were designing a 2-in-1.”

The Latitude 7000 12-inch 2-in-1 (7285) features a premium tablet and detachable keyboard design that is ideal for mobile professionals demanding the thinnest, lightest detachable 2-in-1 mobile device without sacrificing security and meeting critical business requirements such as on-site device serviceability. First unveiled at CES 2017, it’s the world’s first wireless charging 2-in-1 destined to modernise today’s workspace by further eliminating wires. Integrating WiTricity’s magnetic resonance wireless charging technology, the device is built to transform any workspace into a clutter-free environment. When combined with a Dell Wireless Charging Mat[1] and WiGig wireless dock (sold separately), users can quickly remove the 2-in-1 from the mat without the need to unplug any cables, and easily return it to the mat to automatically recharge and connect to additional wireless peripherals such as a display, wireless keyboard and mouse.

According to IDC’s Worldwide 2017 Q1 Personal Computing Device Tracker, convertible 2-in-1s are taking off with business users, growing at 46 percent worldwide year-over-year.[2] Helping to drive this momentum, the Latitude 5000 12-inch 2-in-1 (5289) features a 360-degree hinge that accommodates multiple work styles – seamlessly transitioning between laptop, tablet, stand and tent modes – and delivers up to 17 hours of battery life, the longest of any convertible PC on the market.1 This August, Dell launched a new addition to this very popular design – the Latitude 7000 13-inch 2-in-1 (7389) – that delivers all of the amazing capabilities of the 5289 but feature a larger, 13-inch display. The full-touch Corning® Gorilla Glass® display on both convertibles is reflection and smudge resistant, and supports the Dell Active Pen, built with pen pressure sensing to make writing natural and smooth for today’s business user.

“Commercial PCs are seeing a real renaissance in design, with form-factors like the 2-in-1 that we could only dream about just a few years ago now becoming reality,” said Bob O’Donnell, president and chief analyst at TECHnalysis Research. “Dell’s innovations in the 2-in-1 category, ranging from detachables to 360-degree hinge, are rooted in productivity while providing the flexibility and beautiful design that today’s mobile workforce desires.”

World’s Most Secure PCs

Dell offers the world’s most secure commercial PCs with industry-leading endpoint security solutions that include comprehensive encryption, advanced authentication and leading-edge malware protection. The new Latitude 5000 and 7000 Series 2-in-1s are built with a powerful set of security features including touch fingerprint readers, advanced authentication with FIPS 140-2 Level 3 Certification and Dell Client Command systems management tools. These built-in security features can be augmented with Dell Data Security Solutions, including Dell Endpoint Security Suite Enterprise for data encryption and advanced threat prevention in a single suite or Dell Data Guardian for file-based data encryption that protects, controls and monitors data both inside and outside of the network. Dell is the only major PC manufacturer to have a line of business dedicated to data and endpoint security. When combined with the security expertise within the Dell Technologies family of companies, including RSA, SecureWorks and VMware, Dell can offer organizations a wide range of security solutions and capabilities ranging from endpoint and data security solutions to managed security services, threat intelligence, and risk and compliance.

The Future Workplace with Dell

In today’s workplace environment, take a break and reflect back on how much it has changed over the past 5 to 10 years, followed by the past 10 to 20 years. How much, how big and drastic the changes in the workplace environment over all these years? Now, look at your current workplace, technology and innovations, the disruptions and changes to our work environment. What does the future workplace looks like?

In a recent media event organised by Dell, titled Dell Future Workplace, I had a glimpse into the upcoming changes to how our future workplace might look like (in some cases, they are already into our working environment). During the introduction by key Dell management staff, this quote resonates with me

“The next industrial revolution is upon us”

The Internet of Things (IoT), gadgets, devices and with the boom of social media and internet usage, lots of disruptions are taking place right here right now. There are more changes coming such as 5G networks, 8K video broadcasting. How true indeed, the next industrial revolution is upon us, coming to us fast and furious. Innovate and adapt or else you be disrupted.

Look at the way how technology, innovation and work lifestyle is changing (and disrupting) how we do our work and approach our workflow. At Dell Future Workplace, I discovered some Dell products that caught my interest, for the mobile workforce – On The Go Professionals and specialised workers – Creative Professionals. I will share in another article on my photography and travel interest site, in the area of Dell Future Workplace for Creative Professionals because I am a photographer as my main profession.

In my side profession (a.k.a. taking on other jobs) I am working in the areas of marketing (mix of digital and traditional), social media, writing (blog). Therefore, On The Go Professionals also strikes a common bond with me and my workflow.

What are the new, interesting and amazing Dell family of products for the Future Workplace? Let me share with you, especially the business owners on the range of Dell commercial products showcased at the Dell Future Workplace event –

Dell commercial devices refresh

Dell’s line of OptiPlex, Latitude and Precision commercial products get upgraded with 7th Gen Intel® Core™ processors, USB-C with Thunderbolt™ 3 connectivity options and updated professional graphics from NVIDIA and AMD.

The award-winning 12-inch Latitude 5285 2-in-1 weighs less than 1kg and features a unique auto-deploy kickstand that extends up to 150 degrees for multiple viewing angles and has multiple connectivity options.

For desktop lovers looking for space-saving designs, Dell has redefined the desktop experience with an updated line of OptiPlex small and micro form factor desktops. These sleek products provide full desktop performance and productivity in compact chassis that can be mounted behind corresponding displays with our innovative AIO stands or under a table to free up desk space.

Dell Canvas – Work at the speed of thought

What began as the Dell smart desk concept in 2014 evolved into Dell Canvas—a new category of smart workspace technology that expands creative productivity for content developers and designers. The 27-inch QHD smart workspace can be used at an angle or flat on a desk so professionals can create, communicate and express their thoughts and ideas as naturally as they do with pen on paper. For example, through the use of touch, digital pen and totems, the Dell Canvas turns drawings into part of the digital workflow and enhances collaboration. Developed in partnership with Microsoft Corp. and powered by virtually any Windows 10 device, Dell Canvas plugs seamlessly into software solutions from partners including Adobe, Autodesk, AVID, Dassault Systems, SolidWorks and Microsoft to unleash the creative genius in everyone.

Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 – Designed for the home and business

Launched in Singapore earlier this March, the world’s smallest 13-inch 2-in-1[1] offers a 360-degree hinge for multiple productivity and viewing options using Continuum, up to 15 hours of battery life[2] and eye-popping clarity with a gorgeous QHD+ (5.7M pixels) InfinityEdge touch display—another first for a 2-in-1.

The fan-less design keeps it silent and the quick-booting solid state drive has it up and running in seconds. And for working professionals, the XPS 13 2-in-1 functions as a business laptop with security features and can be configured with 7th Gen Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors, Dell BIOS and manageability software—all backed by Dell’s global ProSupport services.

Precision 5720 AIO – The best sound quality of any all-in-one PC

Some All-in-One (AIO) PCs on the market today treat the audio experience as an afterthought. Co-created with Jack Joseph Puig, Grammy™ award winning producer and director of creative innovation at Waves Audio, the new Precision 5720 AIO, cranks sound to a whole new level with built-in audio quality that previously required an external sound bar. With full frequency range high-fidelity audio built in, it delivers the best sound available in an AIO with 10 speakers pumping out sound at 50W per channel.

The viewing experience is equally impressive with a beautiful 4K Ultra HD (3840 x 2160) edge-to-edge touch display supporting 100 percent Adobe RGB color gamut. The Precision 5720 AIO delivers more performance options with Intel® Xeon® processors, AMD Radeon™ Pro graphics capable of powering VR and outstanding reliability with ISV certifications for top programs like AVID and SolidWorks, as well as leading security and manageability software.

Personal thoughts and views

Being a small business owner myself (photography profession + marketing / social work), some of the Dell products caught my attention, the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, OptiPlex and Precision AIO and Dell Canvas. There is also the Latitude 5289 2-in-1, not too bad in technical specifications and performance, however, I might be more leaning towards the XPS 13 2-in-1.

The OptiPlex looks really small yet they are packed with some powerful technical specifications. Moreover, they have a few different range of models and also the All-in-One Desktop solutions to your business needs.

I will give the Dell Canvas and Precision 5720 AIO more attention in a separate article post on my photography and travel interest site.

At the Dell Future Workplace event, there were zones setup by businesses to showcase how various Dell products played a part in their working environment and workflow.

Alienware marks 20th Anniversary with All New Gaming Notebooks

Alienware, a brand name well known around the world, especially among the gaming community, marks a milestone in their 20th anniversary and celebrating it with a big bang. Alienware, a leading pioneer in high performance PC gaming systems, introduces its first ever VR-ready notebooks for the gamers.

At the launch event of the Alienware all new gaming notebooks, I witnessed their new Alienware VR-ready notebooks and other Dell products too. In this article, I would touch and share on the Alienware collection of new Alienware gaming notebooks, Alienware Aurora desktop and additional gaming options.

Gamers, pay-it-forward and share this news about the new Alienware 20th anniversary edition VR-ready notebooks!

“Gaming is in a time of renaissance right now; awesome games and development, amazing resolutions and technology, plus the pure excitement around VR experiences – it’s an incredible driving force and it feels similar to the energy that started Alienware 20 years ago,” said Raymond Wah, senior vice president, Consumer Product Marketing, Dell. “These new notebooks are a product of that history and approach, but also of the demands and expectations of gamers today. Being true to both is what Alienware is about and we’re proud to bring these notebooks to gamers.”

Let me share with you key information and details of the new Alienware line up from the press release information –

Alienware 17

The new Alienware 17 is the ultimate gaming notebook with an emphasis on screen size, gaming performance and overall immersion. This flagship notebook gains more power with overclocked Intel Core i7 k-series processors and DDR4 memory running up to 2667 Mhz. Newly added support for optional IR Tobii eye-tracking technology adds great accessibility features based on where you’re looking. It allows gamers to fine tune their skills with a new Overwolf app that can replay your gaze pattern so gamers can track where they were looking during gameplay; gamers can then learn from their mistakes and be sure to focus their attention on the best opportunities to crush the competition.

Introducing Dell Venue 8

Dell recently launched the world thinnest tablet, the Dell Venue 8 to the Dell family lineup. I was at the Dell event to watch the launch of the Dell Venue 8 in Singapore and had my hands on the thinnest tablet in the world. At just 6mm thick, it was really thin, the feel and built of the Dell Venue 8 was pretty impressive and sturdy. We were also introduced to the features of the Dell Venue 8, the interesting features and things that it could do. The dimensions of the Dell Venue 8 wasn’t too big and it was comfortable holding it on my palm.

The Dell Venue 8 is the first tablet to integrate the Intel RealSense SnapShot Depth Camera, it’s a very interesting feature that is built into the Dell Venue 8 and it does make mobile phone photography more interesting. More information can be found in the press release information further down the article.

Let me share with you more information about the Dell Venue 8 from the media press release –

Pushing the boundaries of design

Taking razor thin to a new level, the Venue 8 is the world’s thinnest tablet at 6mm. The tablet has an anodized aluminum finish which gives it a sleek and premium look. It also features the best tablet display available today, a stunning 8.4-inch OLED infinity edge-to-edge display that provides sharper viewing from all angles. The tablet’s vivid 2560 x 1600 resolution delivers crystal clear images that enables users to immerse themselves in their photos and videos.

Based on Android 4.4 “Kit Kat” OS, the Venue 8 drives performance with the latest Intel® AtomTM processor Z3500 series, allowing for faster web browsing and photo editing. Users can also enjoy an immersive audio experience through the tablet’s premium audio technology from MAXXAudio Waves and its front-firing stereos.

“Dell is at the forefront of introducing innovative solutions which fulfill users’ need to combine work and play in a single device. With its sleek form factor, revolutionary camera and features that bring greater productivity, the Venue 8 fulfills Dell’s commitment to deliver only the most cutting edge technologies to professionals,” said Harjeet Singh Rekhi, general manager for Client Solutions, Dell South Asia.

A new dimension to digital photography

The Venue 8 is the first tablet to integrate the Intel® RealSense™ Snapshot Depth Camera, which captures a high-definition depth map for every picture taken. The tablet has an 8MP main camera and two 720P cameras separated by 80cm that capture a stereoscopic image with every photograph. Together with the Dell Gallery application, users will have much more flexibility when editing photos with selective filtering and refocus functions. Users can change the brightness of a foreground object or background object, or refocus on any part of the picture. In addition, they will be able to do simple linear or area measurements with a photo, like measure the length of a sofa or the area of a room. The Dell Gallery, a new innovative software, empowers the tablet’s photo viewing experience and enables users to view all their photos from their social media sites in a single location. The application automatically sorts images into smart albums by timeline, geography or facial recognition.

“Here at Intel, we’re designing solutions that free people to think and to express themselves with their own style. In creating a truly personal experience, we want our technology to link us to the world, and to the things and people that really matter to us,” said Chetan Gohil, Intel User Experience Ecosystem Manager for Asia-Pacific and Japan at the launch event. “Technology has always served as a way to communicate – from the first printing press through today’s latest mobile technology and we’re ready to go to the next level with easier, more natural, and seamless communications with devices like Dell’s Venue 8 7000 series. We offer our heartiest congratulations to Dell for the launch of this marvelous tablet and look forward to further collaborations and to bringing more product design wins into the market.”

Enhance productivity with an ecosystem of accessories

Whether for work or play, Dell’s ecosystem of accessories enhances the experience of the Venue 8 and offers unrivaled tablet productivity.

  • When it is time to take the Venue 8 on-the-go, the Dell Venue 8 Folio provides protection in an elegant frame that enhances the tablet’s sleek design.
  • Productivity is also improved on-the-go with the Dell Venue 8 Keyboard Folio, a slim and lightweight wireless keyboard that makes replying to emails or editing documents easier.
