]]>
Thursday 1st December 2022, we are now entering into the final month of year 2022, we can countdown 31 more days before we usher and welcome a new year 2023. This would be a mix of technology, business, writing and personal updates before I start my Christmas gift guides sharing, as well as technology and business media news coverage before taking a short break from writing and publishing during the last week of December 2022.

Final month of 2022 – Final sprint

This is the final month of 2022, this would be the final sprint to the end of year 2022, wrapping and closing up my year 2022 before starting new and fresh for year 2023. I am aiming to clear as many backlogs as possible, from media coverage news to product reviews.

Consolidation and preparation for 2023

The last week of December 2022, the period from Christmas leading up to New Year 2023, I am designating this week to be a rest week, consolidating and reflecting on my year 2022, strategising and preparing for my year 2023, choosing my yearly theme for 2023, goals and objectives.

What is a yearly theme all about? Visit and read this earlier article that I published in the first quarter of 2022 – my yearly theme for 2022 (Technology, Business and Personal) and yearly theme for 2022 (Photography and Travel). If you like to learn more about using a yearly theme instead of goals and objectives for the year, I strongly encourage you to visit Fernando Gros article on “How To Choose A Yearly Theme”.

Writing – personal, technology, business, social media

A number of topics are on my mind, ranging from a wide personal, technology, business and future of social media, that I am planning to write about. They might not be published in December 2022, they would probably feature in Q1 2023.

Topics on my mind:

 • Future of Twitter and social media usage
 • Business and economy outlook for 2023
 • Cryptocurrency – what lies ahead in 2023 and beyond?

Some battles that you will never know

A few days ago from this day 1st December 2022, there were two consecutive days when I met with friends who made their views heard, on asking me if I am considering to give up my business and return back to employee work.

While it’s out of friendly and genuine concern, I am also feeling the hurt and disappointment. Each of us have our own battles to fight, some if not all the battles that you will never know.

Nothing lasts forever, even though people make plans, goals and objectives, we don’t exactly know what the future lies or might change. Tomorrow is a mystery, some might say.

Christmas (December) + Birthday (January) gifts – Any sponsors?

The December Christmas festive season is upon us, before we know or even realised it, we will be starting off a new year in January 2023, preparing for Chinese New Year (CNY) 2023 during January 2023. Since my birthday is somewhere in between Christmas and CNY, any kind sponsors would like to sponsor me a 2-in-1 gift?

The story continues

Every updates that I wrote and published previously, it’s a never ending personal journey, in writing and visual storytelling. The story continues, yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. A door closes, another door opens, this is life as we know it, my story continues, somewhere, somehow.

The post Yearly Theme 2022 (Technology, Business and Personal) appeared first on TGH Technology and Business Portal/Blog.

]]>
It’s the start of a brand New Year 2022, looking back at Year 2021, it was probably one of my most difficult and toughest years till date, those few lessons that tested my mental, emotional, as well as how to run a business in an ongoing pandemic world situation. Many life and business lessons were learnt through the hard ways, I would take note of them as I announce my Yearly Theme 2022 (Technology, Business and Personal).

Inspired by Fernando GrosHow to choose a Yearly Theme”, this is my 3rd year writing a Yearly Theme (you can check out my 2020 Yearly Theme and 2021 Yearly Theme), an approach that I personally feel that it’s more forward looking for a new future, a new era of working, thinking and how we connect as an individual, as a collective, society and the world. It’s not that goal settings or setting resolutions are no longer popular or useful, they still have a purpose and it still works for some people or industries. I also published a Yearly Theme 2022 (Photography and Travel) for my other website TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog.

Let me introduce my Yearly Theme 2022 for my Technology, Business and Personal: “Onward”.

Theme for Year 2022 (Technology, Business and Personal) – Onward

Onward – What is the reason behind this theme?

Why “Onward”? This is actually my alma mater school motto. Let me introduce my alma mater, Gan Eng Seng School (founded in 1885), I am also an old boy from the Gan Eng Seng Dragon Scout Group (founded in 1922) where I spent some of my best and fun years learning Scouting skills, knowledge, in the the great outdoors, life skills and camaraderie.

Dragon Scout Group (DSG) is celebrating its centenary milestone in Year 2022, this is no mean feat! The DSG extended family is going to celebrate DSG100 Years in Scouting!

Onward – Strive forward as we work our way out from this ongoing global pandemic mess, it’s not just an economic and financial crisis, the world is facing other crisis in the areas of healthcare, mental health, emotional health, psychological and sociological issues.

The whole world is trying its best to move forward, with setbacks and hiccups that are going to be a common sight for this year 2022. Hopefully, our lessons learnt in Year 2020 and 2021 would come in handy for us as the world move Onward in the journey to recovery. Let’s hope the world can really start to see the true light at the end of the tunnel.

Goals and Plans

This is not the usual way of doing goal settings that you would normally learn or see in your job/training. What I am doing is a bit of a hybrid format sharing of my goals and plans for my technology, business and personal segments.

Technology

Consumer Technology

I have been covering consumer technology sector since the launch of this website. It is stable and well-established, covering about 70% of my total news coverage here. I would take this year to review where I can change and improve in the areas of consumer technology news coverage, gadget reviews etc.

Enterprise Technology

A small segment that is slowly growing and expanding. Enterprise technology/B2B technology is not the easiest to cover and write about this segment.

Business

Media Relations

My media relations and networks with pr agencies have expanded out of Singapore, reaching the shores of Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia. I would continue to build new media relations and networks whenever possible.

As for my existing media relations and networks, I am thankful and grateful for the working relationships and engagements over the years with brands, organisations and pr agencies. Let’s continue to work closer together in this Year 2022.

Just in case, I might have missed out replying to your emails, please do not hesitate to email me again or have a chat via the various communication channels.

Digital Marketing/Social Media Marketing

I announced TGH Digital Studio in April 2021, a digital agency that combines my digital marketing, social media marketing, writing, photography and videography into an entity. In Year 2022, I am going to build and expand on this business model.

Cryptocurrency / NFT

During Q4 2021, I mentioned about cryptocurrency and NFT on this website. Approaching and entering from a technology news coverage and business opportunities perspective, I am threading with caution and optimism in these two areas for this year.

These 2 sectors cryptocurrency and NFT would be interesting and exciting yet cautious at the same time for me in this Year 2022.

Photography Business

On my photography business segment, you can find more in-depth thoughts and views on my TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog.

The past 2 years, 2020 and 2021, our life and work has been severely disrupted due to the global pandemic that is still ongoing. For those who run a small business like myself, the past 2 years had been very difficult and tough, mentally and emotionally exhausting.

Year 2022 is not going to be smooth sailing, let’s hope the whole world can get themselves together to navigate our way out from this global pandemic situation.

Personal

I may be tweeting/sharing a lot of thoughts on Twitter, some of them are transferred over to Instagram. However, you don’t see me sharing a lot on Facebook. As compared to some of my friends, I might be sharing a lot more, while versus to another group of friends who who share a lot of their personal and family photos, I am very quiet and private on my personal Facebook.

Photography by Ryan Cheng

You are not going to see too many photographs of a personal basis on Facebook or Instagram. I am exercising more privacy on sharing personal photos, social media in recent years has been mentally draining at times.

Yes, I tweet a lot a.k.a. “speak a lot” on Twitter. Some of them are my thoughts, views and feelings ranging from business, issues that I am concerned with, as well as key opinions, thought leadership. They are different from sharing what other people do, share their lifestyle, what they ate, where they went to … etc etc on social media.

Last but not least – Onward in Year 2022

Last but not least – Onward in Year 2022. After some harsh lessons from Year 2021, I decided to be cautious, not fearful, be brave, Be Prepared, ready to take on more challenges, hiccups and changes as I trek my way Onward in Year 2022.

I really hope this Year 2022 would truly be the year where we can see some light at the end of the tunnel.

With Lenovo Neptune™, Lenovo has led the evolution from energy-saving concept to performance enhancing and energy reuse reality. Lenovo Neptune’s approach uses liquid cooling to extract heat from systems with high thermal output, made possible by a three-pronged approach, including Direct to Node (DTN) warm-water cooling, Rear-door Heat Exchanger (RDHX), Thermal Transfer Module (TTM), and other technologies. These technologies can drive down total power consumption for full operation of the server and data center, which can lead to real savings quickly and the benefit continues over the life of the infrastructure.

Powerful Technology Solutions for SMBs

For the small and medium sized businesses (SMB), Lenovo has new powerful technology solutions for SMB with its newest series of ThinkBook and ThinkCentre devices that are designed with SMB in mind and equipped with premium materials, highlighting sophisticated and sustainable designs for the next generation of fearless business owners.

Additionally, the new ThinkBook 14 and 16 Gen 4+ i offer users highly flexible and performance-based models. Both are slimmer than previous generation models and offer larger touchpads with a glass surface that adds to the interactive experience.

For growing businesses in need of a wider selection of adaptable high-performance computing solutions, Lenovo created the ThinkCentre™ neo portfolio – which includes the ThinkCentre neo 70t, ThinkCentre 50s, and the ThinkCentre neo 30a 24. These devices showcase the remarkable technological advancements in a new era of interconnected hybrid workforces.

LG Electronics (LG) presented its vision at LG CES 2022 – The Better Life You Deserve for an enhanced lifestyle and a better future for all around the world. At the LG World Premiere broadcasted on YouTube, hosted by LG CEO William Cho, introduced LG’s diverse innovations for the new year and detailed its continuous efforts to create a more inclusive user experience and sustainable tomorrow. LG’s theme for CES 2022, The Better Life You Deserve, emphasises LG’s ultimate goal to elevate all aspects of daily life through technological and design innovation. This vision is brought to life through 3 short films: A Better Life for You, A Better Life for All and A Better Life Tomorrow.

LG CES 2022 – The Better Life You Deserve

The LG CES 2022 – The Better Life You Deserve premiered on YouTube at 0000hrs Singapore time on 5th January 2022. Watching it was definitely an eye-opener on LG’s diverse innovations for the new year, its continuous efforts for a more inclusive user experience and sustainable tomorrow.

A Better Life for You: Creating Value for Every Lifestyle

In LG’s first short film, A Better Life for You, the focus is on LG’s concept of its upgradable appliance.

With enhanced abilities to learn and evolve to better meet the needs of users’ individual lifestyles, LG’s upgraded ThinQ™ platform empowers compatible products with even more features to deliver additional conveniences in 2022. A Better Life for You shows how advancements in LG’s entertainment solutions are delivering a more personalized, interactive experience to viewers enjoying content on larger screens at home.

For example, LG OLED evo Gallery Edition TV combines superior picture quality and screen brightness with a sleek form factor while LG StanbyME, a private mobile wireless display, goes anywhere in the house to deliver the ultimate viewing experience of a traditional TV. Making their worldwide debut are LG PuriCare™ AeroTower, an all-in-one home air care solution designed to deliver the benefits of an air purifier, fan and heater, and LG tiiun, an indoor gardening appliance that offers a simple, clean and reliable way to grow healthy greens all year round.

A Better Life for All: More Sustainable, More Inclusive

The topics on environmental impact and sustainability are key topics for the world to take action. LG is committed to reducing its environmental impact and making its business more sustainable, the focus inside this short film “A Better Life for All“.

LG’s products has energy saving innovations built into it, LG InstaView refrigerator with its “knock twice to see inside” transparent door, increased use of recycled materials in packaging materials of LG Soundbar and the reduction of plastic components in LG OLED TVs all point to LG’s commitment to finding solutions that are better for people and the planet. Beyond 2022, LG expects to introduce more than 600,000 tons of recycled plastic into its manufacturing processes and increase the recovery of electronic waste to eight million tons by 2030.

Inclusiveness is also key to LG’s growth as a brand and toward this goal, LG is committed to investing in Accessibility Advisory Councils across different markets. Councils are comprised of accessibility experts and those living with disabilities and play a critical role in advising LG as it develops products with more inclusive user experience in mind, such as voice commands and Braille labeling.

A Better Life Tomorrow: Blueprint for the Future

The third and final short feature focuses on the future and LG’s role in turning the stuff of science fiction into reality, with the company’s AI-powered CLOi door-to-door delivery robot being readied to roll into service. Audiences are also treated to a behind the scenes look as LG’s virtual artist Reah rehearses for her upcoming music video.

Also getting the spotlight is LG OMNIPOD, a mobility concept solution that blurs the distinction between home and car. Expanding upon the automotive solutions presented in LG’s previous Connected Car at CES 2020, LG OMNIPOD is an on-the-road extension of one’s personal living space. Designed to function as a home office, an entertainment center or even a lounge, LG OMNIPOD offers a look at how a busy individual might be able to get more done in a future where working remotely doesn’t mean having to work from home.

Located inside the main entrance of Central Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, LG’s on-site exhibit promises to offer both physical and online visitors an engaging and interactive experience through AR and VR technologies.

LG’s Home Entertainment showcase will be featured in LG Virtual Studio in three individual zones: LG OLED on Metaverse, Virtual Showroom and LG OLED Art. All three zones allow visitors to discover and experience the company’s latest products in compelling, interactive ways. LG’s new home appliances will be featured in the virtual exhibition halls aptly named LG Home, LG Home by Objet Collection and LG ThinQ™. LG Home is a virtual living space where visitors can explore the company’s latest appliances including a new washer-dryer set, PuriCare AeroTower and LG tiiun. In LG Home by Objet Collection, visitors can curate their own space by choosing the wallpaper, flooring and other interior design elements to harmonize with the customizable appliances in LG’s premium lifestyle collection. LG ThinQ™ gives visitors a “tour” of all the features and functions of LG’s smart ecosystem all accessible through the upgraded LG ThinQ™ app.

A short visit to TOSO Gallery at mc.2

Thanks to mc.2 and Brand Cellar for the invitation, I went for a short visit to TOSO Gallery at mc.2, checking out their range of TOSO blinds and curtains inside their world’s first TOSO Gallery. As a fan of Japan, the country, their culture, heritage, technology products and services, artworks etc, I was impressed by quality and diversity of TOSO blinds and curtains.

LG Electronics (LG) recently announced on 11th August 2021, its commitment to set targets to follow science-based targets with the goal of cutting greenhouse emissions (GHG) in the use phase of major LG products by 2030. This makes LG the first Korean company to participate in the net zero global campaign, Business Ambition for 1.5°C. The campaign, led by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with support of the CDP, United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), World Resources Institute (WRI) and World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), has commitments of participation from nearly 700 global companies.

LG announced its Zero Carbon 2030 initiative in 2019, committing to reduce the total amount of direct carbon emissions and indirect emissions generated during the production process by 50 percent compared to the 2017 baseline. With its commitment to Business Ambition for 1.5°C, LG is setting a new target to also reduce GHG emissions generated during the use phase of products such as refrigerators, washing machines and residential air conditioners, a far greater challenge. In fact, LG’s report to the CDP this year showed that the use phase of major products accounted for more than 80 percent of its greenhouse gas emissions.

Science-based targets as promoted by SBTi are in line with the latest research and what is deemed necessary to meet the stretch goal of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. LG’s carbon emission reduction target to reduce emissions in the entire production process from production to use by 2030 will be reviewed and validated by SBTi based on scientific data.

“LG’s current activities are in line with our mid- to long-term ESG strategy to produce eco-friendly products and services for future generations,” said Kim Joon-ho, executive vice president and head of LG Electronics’ Quality Management Center. “LG is actively working on environmental solutions focusing on the themes of net zero and circular economy so that future generations can enjoy a better life and contribute to a better tomorrow.”

It had been a bit of a hectic week leading up to 10th April 2021 – A milestone reached for my photography and travel portal/blog! I was busy preparing, writing down my thoughts, feelings and emotions into my article to commemorate this milestone event. On top of that, I also have some updates and upcoming news to share too.

Updates

Do not worry if you are seeing and reading less articles on this website! As I mentioned a number of times over the years, balancing content creation and consistent coverage for two portals/blogs are very demanding and can be very challenging.

Through my newly established TGH Digital Studio, I am working on bringing my technology writing and coverage to combine more closely with my photography and videography works. Bringing them together with my visual storytelling, creating a new form of technology stories telling in both consumer and enterprise technology.

Attained a 15 years milestone for my photography and travel portal/blog

On 10th April 2021, my TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog reached a 15 years milestone. Looking back from my first post on my humble photography blog on 10th April 2006, I had an amazing journey and adventure with my photoblog, there were many ups and downs, growing old along with me, transforming into the a holistic photography and travel portal/blog today.

Inside my milestone article, I shared my inner most thoughts, feelings and emotions, as well as making more announcements on what’s coming up next for my photography and travel portal/blog.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported and encouraged me over the past 15 years (and still ongoing) in my visual storyteller and content creation journey!

Upcoming News

In the areas of technology news coverage, from technology gadget reviews, news announcements and launch of new gadgets/appliances etc, you would be seeing and reading more of those news soon.

For those brands and agencies that I have been working closely with in the technology field, I hope to work together more closely together with my visual storytelling and content creation, creating something to tell about technology products and services.

Stay tuned for my upcoming announcements on my latest partnership and collaboration, Meow Mixed Media Production – A mixed media photography and digital artwork collaboration.

The economy is still on the road to recovery, we are still not out of the woods yet in our fight against the global pandemic COVID-19. It’s still not an easy time for my photography business, diversifying and changing strategic business directions, planning to ride on the economy recovery wave.

Let’s continue to keep vigilant and safe during this difficult recovery period!

It’s 1st April 2021 today, marking the end of Q1 2021 and the start of Q2 2021. Today is the time for reflection and updates for Q1 2021 and celebrating a milestone in April 2021.

Looking back at Q1 2021

I am working and re-building my photography business up, changing, adapting and adopting since the global pandemic COVID-19 impacted the whole world in 2020. For my sole proprietor photography business, the situation is still not ideal yet. I am working on a few more fronts, some rebranding, changes and expansion on the cards, coming soon.

April 2021 – Celebrating 15 years milestone for TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog

A milestone moment for me, for my TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog in April 2021. My website would be celebrating a 15 years milestone, looking back in time over all those 15 years, this journey had been an amazing, enriching and learning photography and visual storytelling journey of many ups and downs.

In the month of April 2021, I would be making announcements of my upcoming partnerships and collaborations, zine/book projects, doing some rebranding and expansion on my photography business side of things. Do keep a lookout for my announcements as well as my regular photography, travel and food articles.

I am on Clubhouse

I heard a lot about Clubhouse, the new social network platform and its hype. I am now on Clubhouse too! However, I am still getting used to this social audio platform, how to use and leverage to expand on my visual storytelling, technology writing and travel adventures.

If you are on Clubhouse, let’s network! Here’s my link – https://www.joinclubhouse.com/@tangenghui

En-route to becoming a Digital Artist and Mixed Media Production Collaboration

I have mentioned in my earlier articles that I am entered onto the digital arts platform, looking at how I can grow and expand in this digital artists network with CryptoIKI. Once I have settled down on the CryptoIKI platform, I would share more in detail of my experiences.

Another sector that I am embarking on, is collaboration and partnership with creative artists from other disciplines. Over the years, I was keen to start yet I couldn’t find a creative artist to work with me. A few months ago, I found another creative digital artist, after some discussions, we are embarking on a mixed media production collaboration.

More information and details would be announced soon in due course on my TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog in the month of April 2021!

Ongoing situation, Trends and Changes in the next few quarters of 2021

The global pandemic COVID-19 situation is still ongoing, the world is not out of the woods yet. While vaccination is taking place around the world, the pace, rate and total number of vaccinations that took place varied between countries. We are all keeping a close watch on this situation.

As for the economic situation, we are still on the route to recovery, some industries/sectors would recover faster than the rest and it would be uneven. Keeping my fingers crossed that business would pick up as we push on in this difficult route ahead.

Work from home (WFH), hybrid future of work and returning back to office. How would it turn out for the economy in the coming months? I reckon most organisations would continue their new hybrid future of work operations with some fine-tuning along the way.

I have been reading about travel bubbles arrangements from different parts of the world, would that mean international leisure travel can reopen soon? Keeping my fingers crossed and not having any expectations (while secretly inside me, I am wishing for travel to be reopened soon)

Looking and Moving Forward in 2021

Come with me, follow me as I reach my 15 years milestone in the month of April 2021 on another new explorer and artistic series adventures of my photography, visual storytelling and short videos/films.

Samsung Electronics Singapore recently announced the 980 NVMe SSD. The Samsung 980 NVMe SSD is the company’s first consumer drive without DRAM. This drive is delivering the highest performance among DRAM-less SSDs, makes blazing NVMe speeds more accessible to a bigger group of users.

“Through both hardware and software innovations, our new 980 SSD brings greater value to our customers without compromising on high-end NVMe performance,” said Jacus Long, Director & Head, Display and Brand Memory Business, Samsung Electronics Singapore. “The 980 offers an excellent blend of speed, power efficiency and reliability, making it suitable for everyday PC users and gamers as well as content creators who are also cost-sensitive in current market conditions.”

Previous DRAM-less designs have a disadvantage in speed without the short-term memory at hand for fast access to data. Samsung’s 980 utilises Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology, linking the drive directly to the host processor’s DRAM to overcome any performance drawbacks. This technology, combined with the company’s the 6th Generation V-NAND as well as optimised controller and firmware, enables the 980 to provide NVMe performance with 6X the speed of SATA SSDs. Sequential read and write speeds come in at up to 3,500 and 3,000 MB/s, while random read and write performances are rated as high as 500K IOPS and 480K IOPS, respectively

The newly upgraded Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 also offers significantly enhanced sustained performance over the previous iteration4 by allocating a much larger buffer storage area inside the drive.

For users working with extremely large files or running graphics-heavy games, the new ‘Full Power Mode’ added to Samsung’s Magician 6.3 software allows the drive to continuously run at peak performance for uninterrupted work and play.

Thanks to Samsung’s advanced thermal designs, consumers will no longer have to worry about their drive overheating. With Dynamic Thermal Guard Technology, nickel-coated controller and heat spreader label solutions available in Samsung’s high-end 980 series, users can enjoy stable and reliable performance even during prolonged use. The SSD further features improved power efficiency of up to 56% when compared to the previous 970 EVO, allowing laptop users to better manage power usage.
