In a person’s life experiences and growth, there would be different stages, events and social dynamics in their life time that would affect, change and make a person grow. As for me, there were quite a number of learning and growing period of growth for me.
A key era crucial in my growth and personal development will be my time as a Scout with Gan Eng Seng School Dragon Scout Group. During the time, I learned a lot of many different things, e.g. leadership, outdoor recreation, independence, friendship, courage, community service and mentoring skills. There were many things that I could share with my readers and my juniors over here, however, I could be writing a history book by the end of it. Nevertheless, I would always be ready to come down and share my experiences and skills with my juniors, as well as, penning down my experiences and mentoring here.
The growth and changes that I learned and attained will always be very close to my heart and I had always wanted to return back and continue to be part of a dynamic organisation founded in 1922. When I entered into entrepreneurship in 2005, it dawned upon me during my personal development growth and changes as a working adult, that I drew a lot from my experiences as a Scout with Dragon Scout Group that makes me even stronger today.
Looking back the past 2 – 3 years, I had been taking the Group Photo, was actively involved in the planning and advisory to the young leaders in the 85th Anniversary Celebrations in 2007. It was wonderful to be involved with the young leaders, ventures and boys, mentoring, helping and passing down my knowledge to them.
On 1st March 2008, I was back in action again with Dragon Scout Group for the Dragon Scout Group Investiture Ceremony 2008 , I wrote and post a lot about my adventures with them during the past few years, do drop in my photojournalism blog and take a read about my stories ! Some of the best time I had with them were the 85th Anniversary Campfire, 85th Anniversary Dinner and Mount Kinabalu Trip in 2007.
If you have an organisation or bonding that special and unique, I encourage you to always be in touch or actively involved with it. I strongly and sincerely believe, old boys/girls (with schools or uniformed groups or organisations) would definitely share some of the same thoughts and feelings like me. Do Pay It Foward !
