One UI 7

Samsung announced One UI 7 beta programme for selected markets in December 2024, giving early testers and users a glimpse of the future of Mobile AI.

Here are the key highlights:

  • Powerful updates to Galaxy AI features, including advanced writing assist tools which is integrated into the OS that offers users the ability to summarise, spell and grammar check, as well as formatting. In addition, users can enable call recording and automatic transcription, eliminating the need for taking down notes manually.
  • Now Bar, which will transform the lock screen experience for users by highlighting relevant activities across various features like Interpreter, Music, Recording, Stopwatch and more without having to unlock.
  • Redesigned camera UX, allowing creators and everyday users to have more intuitive control over their camera settings.

One UI 7 sets the foundation for next frontier of security

One UI 7 sets the foundation for the next frontier of security. It will feature enhanced security features to protect personal data while providing all types of users with choice, transparency and integrated security setting, including:

  • Knox Matrix is Samsung’s vision for the future, enhancing protection through multi-layered, intelligent threat monitoring between connected Samsung devices. The new Knox Matrix dashboard will allow users to check the security status of multiple Samsung smart devices, including Galaxy mobile devices, TVs and home appliances, at a glance.
  • Maximum Restrictions with added controls for users to prevent unintended automatic reconnection to certain Wi-Fi networks that may be less secure, ensuring data remains private while still having the option to connect manually if desired.
  • New Safe Install, along with the existing Auto Blocker feature offers additional layer of protection for users against unintentional sideloading of apps.
  • Users can look forward to additional security features in Identity Check, an opt-in feature designed for when a device’s PIN becomes compromised. If suspicious activity is detected, users can rest assured that these Galaxy-exclusive protections will kick in.

The official One UI 7 release is coming soon, it will commence with the upcoming Galaxy S Series devices, featuring additional AI capabilities including enhanced, hardware-dependent on-device AI functions, starting from Q1 2025.

This update will gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices, in line with Samsung’s commitment to extend its OS upgrade policy.
