Security measures against unauthorized access to the drive are handled through WD SmartWare Pro automatic backup software with hardware encryption and password protection. To protect files against theft, fire, flood or other natural disaster, My Book integrates Dropbox[1] to store files in the cloud. For full system backup and secure deletion of files, My Book includes Acronis True Image (ATI) WD Edition. ATI WD Edition is an integrated software suite that ensures security of all information on the PC and can be used to securely delete any confidential data no longer needed. ATI WD is also used for disaster recovery in case of a fatal system crash, recovering the entire PC including files, software and preferences.
The My Book for Mac will also incorporate SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and UAS connectivity for increased speed and flexibility. Available in 2TB / 3TB capacities, My Book for Mac is compatible with Apple’s Time Machine™ for safe and effective backup of files. The drive is equipped with WD Security software for password protection and hardware encryption to protect files from unauthorized access, and comes with WD Utilities, which allows users to register drives, run diagnostics, and more.

My Book and My Book for Mac hard drives are protected by a 3-year limited warranty and are available from select distributors (Eternal Asia (S) Pte Ltd and SiS Technology Pte Ltd in Singapore) and resellers. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) on the My Book 4 TB (model # WDBFJK0040HBK) is S$ 309. MSRP on the My Book for Mac 2 TB (model # WDBYCC0020HBK) is S$ 179 and the 3 TB (model# WDBYCC0030HBK) is S$ 239.

WD My Book 4TB Thoughts and Views
I was kindly loaned the WD My Book 4TB courtesy of the arrangement made by Ogilvy Public Relations. Here are my thoughts and views from the review period that I had with the WD My Book 4TB
- Sturdy
- Stable
- Quiet (hardly any noise when the HDD is running)
- Not really that portable if you intend to bring it outside and you need power socket (Check out WD external portable drives)
- Very fast backup and transfer (even for USB 2.0 port on my MBP)
- Features for Windows not available for Mac
- Ideal for a simple and bigger storage HDD that is placed in the home
If you are planning to own a desktop/home/office based storage, the WD My Book is a good recommendation for your consideration!
