Microsoft Surface Pro 4 - TGH Technology and Business Portal/Blog

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 was launched a few months back in November 2015 and I had the opportunity to take a look at the Surface Pro 4 launch, viewed the different works of professionals from various industries on how the Surface Pro 4 applies and works for them in their respective profession. Having seen the Surface Pro from its first edition to its 4th edition, the Surface Pro 4 had improved significantly throughout the years, with improved technical specifications and operating system.

At the Surface Pro 4 event, I met my friend Clayton Lai, a talented photographer friend, a master filmmaker, who was one of the professionals showcasing their works using the Surface Pro 4. From my conversation with Clayton, I was able to understand more about the capabilities of the Surface Pro 4 and I am impressed with it! My friend Clayton showed me the works on his short film “The Promise” that he directed and produced, on the Surface Pro 4. This short film, “The Promise”, is touching, I wrote and shared my thoughts about his short film in one of my articles!

The Surface Pro 4 is a lightweight and powerful tablet that is able to fulfil the needs and demands of a laptop user. This is a 2-in-1 tablet and the Surface Pro 4 lives up to its reputation and capabilities, with the combination of the power of a laptop and the single, sleek and single form factor of a tablet.

At this point in time when I am writing and sharing this article on the Surface Pro 4, in my personal humble opinion, I think there aren’t many brands and models out there at this point in time, that are able to combine the power of a laptop and a tablet nicely together. In the near future, there might be more different brands coming out with their own 2-in-1 laptop/tablet to compete against the Surface Pro 4. Until then, I reckon Surface Pro 4 is leading the race.

Could this Surface Pro 4 be the 2-in-1 laptop/tablet that I am looking for? It might just be the one.

Let me share with you some key information and details of the Surface Pro 4 from the press release information –

“Surface Pro 4 brings together the performance of a laptop and the full power of Windows 10 with the portability of tablet,” said Arthur Huang, Director, Consumer Channels Group, Microsoft Singapore. “Surface has transformed the category by focusing on productivity, creating a highly versatile device that people love to use.”

At only 8.4 mm thin, Surface Pro 4 features Windows 10 Pro, a stunning 12.3-inch PixelSense Display and 6th Generation Intel® Core m, Core i5, and Core i7 processors, enabling everyone from students to professionals to get more done on the go. Starting at S$1,399, Surface Pro 4 is not only 30 percent more powerful than Surface Pro 3 but also quieter, runs cooler and is even more efficient with up to nine hours of battery life[1]

“The 6th Generation Intel® Core™ processor family sets a new standard of computing with enhanced performance, graphics, and battery life, making possible the remarkable performance and power-efficiency you see in ultrathin devices like Surface Pro 4,” said George Chacko, Director, Pricing & Product Marketing Group, Intel Asia Pacific & Japan. “Together with Microsoft, Intel is constantly pushing the limits of personal computing with state-of-the-art experiences, and we’re very excited to bring these innovations to market with Surface Pro 4.”

A recent survey conducted by Microsoft with 1,200 Asian consumers[1] under the age of 25 years of age also found that 42% of respondents wished to get a new 2-in-1, tablet or laptop device this festive season. The Surface Pro 4 is a great device that combines the portability of a tablet with the power of a laptop in a single, sleek and light form factor.
