A week has passed in July 2024, writing down my recaps, thoughts and views on my article, “Reflecting Q2 2024 and H1 2024 (Technology | Business | Personal)” took me much longer than I was planning for. I decided to push myself, finally getting this article off my back and publishing my reflections article for Q2 and H1 2024 in my technology, business and personal sectors.
Technology
Consumer Technology
It has been a stable status quo for my consumer technology coverage over my decade of writing and covering consumer technology. I have added new engagements with technology brands that didn’t do so in my earlier years, meanwhile l would like to work with those technology brands that went off the media relations path and re-engage again.
Gadgets Review
I am making a comeback in doing gadgets review, I took a break from this segment for a while as I wasn’t able to fulfil some obligations and expectations (from a personal and professional perspective, also probably from brands/agencies perspectives) for doing gadgets review.
To be honest, not going to lie, I missed trying out new technology gadgets even though some technology gadgets plateaued in terms of innovation, in my personal opinion.
The rise of AI powered devices/gadgets caught my interest again, I am testing how would these new era technology gadgets bring up and elevate AI to both the business/enterprise and consumer worlds.
Enterprise Technology
Due to my current writing workload, I am pretty alright with my growth in the enterprise/business technology sector. Although I would love to expand my coverage on enterprise technology sector, I have to be more selective because some industries are out of my scope of technology and business knowledge and expertise.
Technology Theme of the Year 2024 – Artificial Intelligence (AI)
The technology “flavour” that is hot and most widely discussed from top to bottom, artificial intelligence. This is just like, Technology Theme of the Year 2024 – Artificial Intelligence (AI). In some ways, everything and anything is all about AI.
I have an ongoing coverage segment on AI coverage titled, TGH Research/Learning Series on Artificial Intelligence (AI). As much as I am using AI technology in my photography, videography, writing and daily life, I am also learning, understanding and writing more in-depth about AI, that I feel that that is still some gap between the technology and the end users themselves.
A work in progress, I am working to write and publish more on the topics of AI soon in Q3 2024.
Business
From my personal observations on H1 2024, we are in a mixed, uncertain and imbalanced economy, in my personal opinion.
In my networking with technology brands and agencies working with technology sectors, there’s a bit of a slowdown amidst economic uncertainties. Some sectors within technology industry are still doing good, some have marketing budgets cut, you can also read about retrenchment news.
Networking with PR agency friends in other industry sectors, they echoed similar thoughts and views. This year 2024 is no doubt a challenging with potentially more uncertainties.
Personal Thoughts
Geo-political Tensions
The ongoing geo-political situations around the world are a big worry, amidst fears of further escalations that might draw countries in that particular region into this rabbit hole. Personally, I hope those geo-political tensions don’t escalate further or else, the consequences will be much worse.
Fatigue
For my readers, followers and that folks (brands and PR agencies) that I have been working with, you would have noticed a slowdown in my articles publishing. There is a part on fatigue that I didn’t mention too much, maybe it’s a signal that I need to take a real and proper travel holiday break away from Singapore.
