Wishing Everyone Happy New Year 2023!

Today is Monday 1st January 2023, we have officially started a fresh new year 2023! First and foremost, wishing all of you a Happy New Year 2023! Starting off Year 2023 with a fireworks photo shot at Star Island Singapore event at the Floating Platform, part of Marina Bay Singapore New Year Eve 2023 Countdown events around the Marina Bay area.

We had low key and subdued New Year Eve celebrations for the past 2 years (2020 and 2021) due to the global pandemic situation at the time. Being able to welcome Year 2023 with a big bang of amazing choreographed and beautiful fireworks display was most welcome by many of us.

Looking back at Year 2022 in Review: Reflecting Year 2022 (Photography | Travel) and Reflecting Year 2022 (Technology | Business | Personal), it’s time for a fresh new start in a fresh new year 2023. The year ahead has its own new set of challenges and concerns, even as we are moving out and away from the global pandemic that rocked us upside down in 2020.

My TGH Technology and Business Portal/Blog is marking a 15 years milestone in Year 2023. I would be sharing more about my thoughts and feelings on reaching this milestone, future plans and directions.

To all the organisations, partners and people that I work with, from technology (consumer and enterprise) brands, startups, Future of Web3.0, PR agencies and writers community. I look forward to working closer together with you in the Year 2023.

Once again, wishing all of you a Happy New Year 2023! Good luck and all the best in the year ahead! Wishing all of you great health and happiness with your family and loved ones! May you reach for the stars in the sky along with beautiful fireworks lighting up the night sky, and your goals, objectives and wishes for this year 2023 all come true!

Reflecting Q3 2022 and Plans for Q4 2022 (Technology/Other Business and Personal)

Q3 2022 has officially ended on 30th September 2022, we are now into the final quarter of 2022. Before I begin my sharing on reflecting Q3 2022 and plans for Q4 2022 (Technology/Other Business and Personal) let me take you back in time first, Reflecting Q1 2022, Updates and Thoughts and Reflecting H1 & Q2 2022 (Other Business, Technology and Personal).

Photography by Isaac Ong

Technology Writer

Consumer Technology/B2C

This has been my staple, regular and constant sector, since I embarked on technology writing on this website. It has evolved over my years of writing and coverage as well. A mature segment, the growth and expansion would not be like before in the early years. I am only adding on new brands/accounts if the opportunity arises along my consumer technology writing journey ahead.

Enterprise Technology/B2B

A segment that I am expanding and growing slowly, this accounts for maybe 30% of my technology writing coverage. This is not going to be a fast expanding sector, I am happy with a slow and steady growth.

Other Business

Digital Marketing / Social Media Marketing

This business segment has slowed down, maybe this is the time to reorganise, readjust and make strategic changes for this segment that I am integrating with my photography, videography and content creation.

Other business opportunities?

I am always on the lookout for other business opportunities, some are postponed, some are lost, some might bear fruit and come true. What are the new potential developments and business opportunities?

Personal

Post Global Pandemic – Readjusting, Recovering and Brain Fog

We are gradually moving out from the global pandemic situation that kind of turned our world, our living and our work, upside down in 2020.

Moving forward, we are readjusting and recovering, on all fronts, mentally, emotionally, financially. Just like many of us, we all had our fair share of ups and downs, some had it much tougher than others. I have also moved out and away from that dark period, a downward spiral into a rabbit hole. The life lessons coupled with other life situations that cropped up during that period didn’t make it easy for me, it took me some time, recovering and readjusting. Looking back at that period in time, and now looking forward ahead, a different situation and battle ahead.

Brain fog is one of the various long term impacts of this global pandemic COVID-19 that we need to be mindful of. Some symptoms include mental fatigue, lost words, forgetfulness, I have experienced some symptoms, I am going to be more mindful and be more aware of this.

Disappointments

Life is full of disappointments, it’s the harsh and brutal realities that I am facing constantly in my battles in running a business and in life, some people would take the chance to said I am pessimistic, judging me subtly.

Keeping stuff private from social media

While I am active on social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, FB Page, I am actually quite private on social media even though I kind of rant quite a lot. However, I am keeping stuff private from social media, that’s why you see a lot of my “boring lifestyle” and cute cats photos, nothing exciting to some in this current social media driven obsessed world of sharing/or showing off.

World Economy and Market

The world economy and market is not in a good shape right now, we could be facing a recession soon in 2023, some would argue that the world economy and market is already in a recession. Inflation is high, coupled with a stagnated economy is not good news for us and a dread word many of us fear – Stagflation.

How that would impact our jobs, our business, our living, remains to be seen. Some are wealthy and rich that they don’t worry, some might just be grinding their way through and continue leading a life of display for their social media.

Plans for Q4 2022

Some of my plans are published in my Reflecting Q3 2022 and Plans for Q4 2022 (Photography and Travel) article, that is where you can read the other half of my Q3 reflections and plans for Q4 2022.

What are my plans for my technology, other business and personal side of things?

  • Other business: Working on the side lines to make it come true to life.
  • Technology: Continue building up my enterprise/B2C segment.
  • Personal: Continue striving and improving my emotional and mental health/well-being.

Last But Not Least

This Q3 2022 reflection and plans for Q4 2022 somehow feels pretty lengthy with quite a lot of personal thoughts, feelings, and emotions in the areas of my technology, other business and personal.

In our social media driven world by showing and telling the world what you are doing with photos and videos, not many would be interested to read what I wrote here.

Last but not least, thank you for taking the time to read it till the end of my personal ranting (in some ways).

Reflecting H1 & Q2 2022 (Other Business, Technology and Personal)

We are now into the second half of Year 2022, time flies in the blink of an eye. How was your second quarter (Q2) and first half (H1) of 2022 like for you? Overall for me, it had been a mix of ups and downs on the various side of things for my other business, technology and personal side of things. Taking the time to look back and reflect on H1 & Q2 2022 (Other Business, Technology and Personal), planning and aligning myself for Q3 2022 and H2 2022.

Social Media Marketing/Content Creator/Writer

An area that I developed and expanded from my early days as a writer, expanding into content creator and social media marketing. A business area that I am currently building on, with a mixed bag of results.

My first social media marketing work gig didn’t go well as planned, I reflected and analysed this gig. I won’t go too much into details due to privacy and confidentiality matters. All I can say is I can and should have handled it a lot better through proper communication.

Lessons learnt, moving forward for future social media marketing gigs, I would be much better prepared.

Other Business Interests

In the earlier part of Q2 2022 and H1 2022, there were other business interests that were floated up on joint business venture. A number of discussions took place, it didn’t go ahead as planned and it had to be KIV, a number of reasons and considering the circumstances at that time, pushing it back for future consideration might be a more prudent and safe decision.

Meanwhile, should there other business interests, ideas and projects that pop up on my radar, I would definitely take a look.

Technology Writer

A stabilised and established segment, much like my photography writing, both areas honed over more than a 10 years period. Nevertheless, that’s always room for improvement and expansion, one of the sectors that I am expanding on would be enterprise technology/B2B technology as well as niche technology topics that I had a stronger interest in e.g. cybersecurity, fin-tech, as well as environmental issues.

One constant challenge for me is to consistently publish technology news coverage, not only do I  receive more technology media news releases, there is also an emphasis on content creation for technology, photography and travel content.

Nonetheless, if you have interesting media pitches for technology or on other industries, chat with me personally and let’s see what we can do.

Personal

On a personal note, I didn’t get into much personal stuff and situations that might spiralled me downwards into a rabbit hole again. That’s definitely a good thing as well as a sigh of relief for me. As for the usual stressful and pressurising life of a small business owner is pretty much routine and normal, sometimes it just got more stressful and under more pressure at times.

Other than that, you can say I lead a “boring life” with low social economic status (SES) lifestyle, keeping low profile, private and confidential. My sharing on my insta stories don’t reveal much of my life at large.

Viewing those high SES lifestyle on my Instagram stories and posts, it can be so mentally exhausting.

Please be kind, Please do not Judge!

The world is getting more difficult to live and work in, we are not helped by the world economic situation as well as our social media driven and instant gratification glamorous lifestyle. The world needs more kind and understanding citizens, less judgemental people.

Please be kind, Please do not Judge! A reminder to myself too.

What’s next for Q3 2022 and H2 2022?

Just when we were working towards exiting a global pandemic situation that had caused so much disruptions to our economy and daily living from 2020 to 2022, the world entered into another crisis situation, the world is facing high inflation, ongoing conflict situation in Europe, a recession is looming above us, throw in possible stagflation too. Not to forget that we are not officially out of this global pandemic situation.

From a set of uncertainties to another different set of uncertainties, we have to be fluid and nimble that we can adapt should the need arises. While I am restricting and pivoting my other business interests/plans, writer, social media marketing with my commercial photography and content creation, I have to be nimble, be ready for changes and opportunities that might pop up.

What’s next for Q3 2022 and H2 2022? Let’s see where this journey brings me in the next quarter and 2nd half of 2022. Do check out my Reflecting H1 & Q2 2022 (Photography and Travel) article as well!

Anyway, in this era of instant gratification of showing off photos and videos, who still reads?

Reflecting Q1 2022, Updates and Thoughts

We are near to the end of March 2022, approximately 1 week+ away from today 20th March 2022. Since I had a number of thoughts and things going on in my mind, I was thinking why not combine them with my Q1 2022 reflections, along with some updates and lastly my thoughts and things going on in my mind.

Give peace a chance

First and foremost, this matter had been troubling me inside my mind when the Ukraine and Russia crisis erupted. It’s all over international news networks, I wanted to write down and share my thoughts, feelings and views, however, I just got stuck trying to write it down into words.

Give peace a chance, stop the war, no more war please.

Social Media Marketing / Content Creation

If you remembered my earlier post, I have embarked on social media marketing / content creation for a food business. This is a heavy workload gig, it’s very challenging to be consistently creative and being able to produce unique content on a regular basis. Only very few friends would know about my work situation when I met them and shared about my work. Many challenges ahead with added workload too, a number of other areas to work on and handle as well. Let’s see where this would take me to.

There is also a potential content creator/writer gig for a technology website, I am working on their trial and I hope to pass their writing test before I can be accepted. As of now, I won’t know how it would turn out, I will try my best, fingers crossed and see whether this would work out for me.

Photography Zine / Playbook update

In this article that I published on my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog, I am excited with my new photography zine / playbook. However, I underestimated my workload and time management on this project, balancing with my photography business and social media marketing / content creation commitments.

My adjusted timeline is to get my curated photographs placed and layout nicely inside my book, a final check before a trial print to have a feel, look, followed by another final check and adjustments before talking to the local printing house.

Photography

Business

On the photography business segment, it’s not getting back on track as I would like to. Therefore, I would relook again into this, the areas that I can work on, changes and marketing/publicity side of things.

Canon EOS R3, RF600mm f/11 IS STM and RF800mm f/11 IS STM reviews

I have recently reviewed the Canon EOS R3, RF600mm f/11 IS STM and RF800mm f/11 IS STM lenses, glad to have the opportunity to do a more in-depth review after earlier hands on experiences with them in 2021 and 2020 respectively.

Keep a lookout for my reviews, coming soon on my TGH Photography and Travel portal/blog.

Training / Consultancy

An area that I found myself entering into, training and consultancy in the field of photography, camera technology. While I did consider photography/camera training previously, I didn’t embark on this sector due to prioritising my commitments and time.

With an opportunity coming onboard for a collaboration project, this is definitely an area that I would be looking into more in-depth down the road. I may have the photography / camera knowledge and experiences, the time is now for me to translate them into easy language, understanding and usability from a “consumer perspective”, for those just entering into photography, or moving them up from the smartphone photography / compact camera photography segments.

Personal Photography Projects

On the topic of personal photography projects, I have embarked and worked on different personal photography projects over the years, you can view them on my Flickr albums/collections!

I have yet to decide on which personal photography project to embark on, I might continue on some of my existing personal photography projects.

Personal Matters of the Mind, Heart and Soul

Covid fatigue

The past 2+ years (and still counting) had not been an easy time for many of us around the world due to the ongoing global pandemic situation. This year 2022 might be the year that the world can truly open up again, hopefully, this would not be a false sign.

Covid fatigue has brought some people to their breaking point, the whole world needs to work together closer and faster, as compared to 1-2 years back when we were still trying to learn and understand about this pandemic. The world needs to be break out from this global pandemic,  embark on the route to opening up and recovery.

Mental health / Emotional health

Our mental and emotional health/well-being has been severely affected, the future impacts and outcomes on the society and us in a post pandemic world still awaits to be seen.

I am still mentally and emotionally drained, exhausted yet showing no signs on the outside. The ongoing struggles are real, they are still very tough and challenging. Although comparing now to a period in 2021 whereby I was struggling, stuck in a rut, my mental and emotional health was not in a good state, the situation at this current stage has improved.

While I may seem to share a lot on Twitter, relative to my personal Facebook and Instagram, I don’t really share as much details and photos into my life, keeping my things and stuff private.  Most of you would also know or realised that I don’t show much of myself in photos unless I am being tagged.

A reminder to myself: We can choose and Decide to be Happy.

Round Up Jan 2022 and Short Break for CNY 2022 (Technology and Business)

Today is 31st January 2022, last day of January 2022, this is also the eve of Chinese New Year (CNY) 2022, a time for reunion dinner and family gathering. I would like to take this time to do a quick round up Jan 2022 before taking a short break (from Monday 31st January to Sunday 6th February) for CNY 2022 for my technology and business segments.

The month of January always seem to be hectic since it’s a short turnaround time from Christmas weekend to New Year weekend, followed by 4 more weeks to Chinese New Year festive holiday. It takes a while to get up to speed while there were ongoing adjustments, adapting and settling into new gig/role, on top of getting my business back on track.

Round Up Jan 2022 (Technology and Business)

Technology writing / media news coverage

A regular segment on my website since the founding of my technology and business website. I started off with consumer technology (B2C) market, and I expanded into enterprise / business technology (B2B) market some years back.

This sector can be pretty taxing at times, depending on the frequency and number of press releases received in a week. That’s a good and bad headache to have.

Social Media Marketing / Digital Agency

As part of my business diversification and integration with my photography business, as well as my technology writing segment, I am in the midst of building up and developing my social media marketing / digital agency business portfolio.

I previously mentioned about a social media marketing gig, I am transiting and settling into this new role. In this year 2022, I hope to expand this segment further, getting one to two more accounts under my charge.

Crypto / Blockchain / NFT

Crypto and Blockchain are the next two technology sectors that I would be covering, not just because it’s linked to my NFT photography plans. I see potential in the cryptocurrency world, their use case scenarios in a digital world and as an alternative investment tool. There are a number of discussions on crypto and blockchain  industries, both pros and cons.

This is an area that I am keen in, still learning and exploring. There are quite a lot of discussions on the NFT field, both pros and cons, and how it can be part of my diversification for my photography. I am reading both sides of the NFT equation, I believe in its potential and future prospects. I would be doing more research before embarking on this platform and share more updates on my NFT photography journey along the way.

Short Break for CNY 2022

I am planning to take a short break for CNY 2022 from my technology and business media news coverage, content creation and writing. There would definitely be some more backlogs piling up. Do also check out my Round Up Jan 2022 for my (Photography and Travel) segment too!

While I am not publishing media news and content creation for a week, that does not mean I am totally not working. I would be working on my photography and videography areas.

Wishing all a Happy Chinese Lunar New Year 2022, good health, happiness, luck and prosperity in the Year of the Tiger!

May the Year of the  Tiger be the year whereby we can truly and surely lift ourselves up from this global pandemic situation and embark on a route to economic recovery and a more normal way of living.

Wishing Everyone Happy New Year 2022!

Today is 1st January 2022, the first day of the New Year 2022, wishing all a Happy New Year 2022! May Year 2022 be a good year for everyone of us here, wishing all great health, love, kindness and happiness!

I am taking a rest during this New Year long weekend break, consolidate and prepare myself for a new year ahead. This is going to be a quiet weekend, writing on personal topics, I would be sharing my yearly theme soon, along with some of my plans, thoughts and views for this year 2022 before returning back to media news coverage on the technology and business sectors.

In case you missed it, here’s my Reflecting 2021 (Technology, Business and Personal) and also my Reflecting 2021 (Photography and Travel) on my other portal/blog. Today marks the start of a brand new year, a new hope and a fresh new beginning.

There were so many twists and turns of events and many more ups and downs during last year 2021. After reflecting on the year as a whole, I am now taking both the good and bad lessons from there. There’s a lot of things to let go and put it behind me before starting my new journey in Year 2022.

Another new chapter is starting, a new hope, a New Year 2022.

Once again, wishing everyone a Happy New Year 2002! Stay safe and healthy as we continue battling this ongoing global pandemic. Let’s spread love, kindness, compassion to the people around us, our society and around the world!

Reflecting Year 2021 (Technology, Business and Personal)

Today is Friday 31st December 2021, the last day for the Year 2021. A lot of things had happened during the year, here I am, reflecting Year 2021 (Technology, Business and Personal), writing down my inner deep thoughts, feelings and emotions on a very turbulent, difficult, tough and testing year for me.

Technology

Consumer Technology

For this segment, it has been stable since establishing this website in January 2008, consumer technology news take up approximately 70% of my technology content media news coverage.  While I am still covering consumer technology news, I have also diversified and expanded into the fields of Fin-tech, blockchain, cryptocurrency and NFT that I have a keen interest in. They are not just for news coverage, I have an intrinsic interest in them for both business/investments as well as cross-disciplinary work with my commercial photography.

Enterprise Technology

This is still a relatively small and growing segment for my website. This is not an easy sector to cover and write due to the niche industries, you might/usually need industry and technical expertise as well. I am still working on growing enterprise technology sector news coverage, I would also like to thank the agencies that I am working with by linking up relevant enterprise technology companies with my website.

Business

Digital Marketing/Social Media Marketing/Digital Agency

An area that I identified earlier in the year that I can diversify into that integrates both my photography and travel website, social media, digital marketing and writing together. I went for upgrading courses to get myself certified too. The establishment of TGH Digital Studio is still relatively new and unknown, a lot of work still needs to be done, strategic planning and directions, and finding suitable partners to work together with.

Media Relations

Although Year 2021 had been a very difficult year for me in many aspects, there were some good growth and developments in media relations segment. My networks and engagements went beyond the shores of Singapore, I am getting media news updates from agencies based in Hong Kong, Australia, Malaysia and England.

I hope to build on those new connections and networks, expanding not just in the fields of technology, business and in the areas of my photography and travel sectors as well.

Personal

Mental Health and Emotional Health

Year 2021 was my most emotionally and mentally drained year till date in my life. This was also the time I started to know more about mental health, the issues, awareness, why it matters. The ongoing global pandemic has disrupted not only our daily and working life, it has also seriously impacted and affected our mental and emotional well-being.

The elevated stress and pressure from running and operating a business during a global pandemic crisis with many uncertainties and unknowns, add in family matters concerns and a very personal situation, combining all together resulting in falling and spiralling into a rut. That period was very dark for me personally. I am very grateful and thankful to a few friends who pulled me out from a tipping point.

Photography by Ryan Cheng

Running a business brings many additional levels of stress and pressure, throw in a global pandemic crisis into the equation, the levels are at an unprecedented level that we can ever imagine, understand and handle, unless you are right in the deep end of it.

There were many lessons on life, business, mental and emotional health/well-being that were bestowed upon me, in both good and bad ways in the Yr2021. I will learn from them, from both good and bad points.

A reminder to myself to constantly remind myself to never let myself fall as low as I did in Yr2021.

Last but not least

Year 2021 had been a very turbulent year of many ups and downs, disappointments and heartaches from unnecessary expectations. There were many life and business lessons handed out to me, priceless and painful.

Do visit my TGH Photography and Travel Portal/Blog too! I have also published a reflection, thoughts and views article in my photography (business and leisure) and travel segments.

Signing off Year 2021 with a beautiful sunset to say goodbye to Year 2021, good riddance to bad rubbish. It’s been a very painful time, very difficult and tough, mentally, emotionally and financially for me personally. I will learn, remember and apply the good and bad lessons from this year. I will also make sure that I will never let myself fall as low as what happened to me in 2021.

Year 2022 is starting soon, a new year, a fresh and brand new start in an ongoing global pandemic situation. I would share more about my plans and directions in the Year 2022 for my technology, business and personal segments inside my upcoming Theme and Goals for Year 2022 article.

To all those who had pulled me up when I was down at the bottom, as well as those who supported and encouraged me throughout this very difficult Year 2021, I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart, no amount of words can show my utmost appreciation towards what you all had done for me.

It’s time to say Goodbye Year 2021 and Welcome Year 2022.

Reflecting H1 2021 and New Themes for Personal and Business in H2 2021

1st July 2021, this marks the end of the first half (H1) of Year 2021 and the start of the second half (H2) of Year 2021. The first half of Year 2021 had been mixed for me, taking this day to give myself some me time, reflecting H1 2021 and new themes for personal and business in H2 2021 while reviewing the themes that I set earlier in January 2021 for my Themes and Goals for Year 2021 (Technology and Personal).

Reflecting H1 2021

H1 2021 had been mixed for me, while we were still battling the ongoing global pandemic COVID-19 at the start, I was cautiously optimistic that we can slowly start our route to recovery. Q1 2021 seemed to be heading that way, I was working towards my 15 years milestone for my photography and travel portal/blog in April 2021, with my business expansion and diversification plans put in place.

However, at the later part of Q2 2021, the ongoing global pandemic situation took a turn for the worse, resulting in tightening measures being put in place, that was known as Phase 2 Heightened Alert (P2HA) in May 2021. While it wasn’t exactly a circuit breaker (CB) like the one we had in 2020, P2HA was close to being a circuit breaker in action on the ground level.

During that trying and difficult period, business plans were derailed, the economy and market started to slow down. There were other very personal situations that came into the picture, I was overwhelmed mentally and emotionally, I thought that after going through the CB period in 2020, I am better prepared mentally and emotionally. However, this wasn’t the case at all.

I wrote about it, “Reflection, Thoughts and Feelings – 1st June 2021” and “Fate and Time”, thinking that I would be feeling better after that. However, it took a twist and turn, I spiralled down further to a level that I called, “A Tipping Point”. If it wasn’t for friends such as Chef Keith who took me out and away on that Monday 7th June 2021, I won’t know how far I might have spiralled down that day.

The 4 weeks from the start of P2HA was a very tough test for me emotionally and mentally, a rare few people would know what was actually going through my mental and emotional state of mind. Alarms and warning signs were triggered, friends started to ask about me. There were some matters that I could say, there were some very personal matters that I can’t say out on social media, only in very private and very personal settings.

Climbing out from this even deeper rock bottom, depressed in a rut, was so much tougher than I envisioned it that I was able to handle them. The recovery took a bit more time than usual, along with reflecting H1 2021 and planning for H2 2021, this recovery started to phase in nicely with my route to recovery. The recovery is not immediate, it’s not fast at all, the key thing is recovery has started.

Mental Health Matters

I would be the first to acknowledge that I was feeling depressed and stuck in a rut at that time. The massive economic impacts, social and emotional impacts caused by this ongoing global pandemic cannot be underestimated.

If it wasn’t for friends like Chef Keith, old primary school friends like Wendy and Michael, photographer friends Ryan and Isaac, and my cousin-in-law Tiffany, they all helped to pull me out from this recent depression and rut.

Mental health matters, it’s time we acknowledge it to be a health issue and look into how we can manage and handle it, on a personal, professional and medical (if need to be) basis. This ongoing global pandemic COVID-19 situation accelerates the impacts, seriousness and fallouts on mental health issues.

New Themes for Personal and Business in H2 2021

My themes for Year 2021 were “Recovery” and “Rejuvenation”, I decided to review them, and my themes for H2 2021 would be:

Care

This comes to a point in time whereby I need to learn to take care of myself more, this does’t mean that I am going to be a selfish person down the road. Maybe I care too much for others and other things that I forgot to take care of myself.

Recovery

Recovering from my depressed emotional and mental state of health and mind. It’s a critical time that I start to recover, in order for me to take on the current ongoing battles and challenges in a better frame of mind, mental and emotional state of well-being.

H2 2021 – Other Business Interests and Personal Interests

This is still going to be a difficult and trying period especially for small and medium sized businesses as we are still battling this ongoing global pandemic.

I am upgrading/learning/working on adding digital marketing specialist diploma to my qualifications, fully transforming into my TGH Digital Studio business setup consisting of my TGH Photography, videography and content creation.

Other digital marketing/social media marketing plans/discussions are taking place, a work in progress.

As for other business interests/collaborations/plans, there are some discussions in progress, planning and strategising. Let’s see if they can be materialised and turn into something feasible and workable.

In Short

H1 2021 had been a mixed of ups and deep downs for me, Q1 2021 wasn’t too bad, Q2 pretty much went diving straight down. I was depressed, in a rut. However, thanks to a few friends, I managed to pull out and started the road to recovery.

I was taught a number of life lessons in the past few months, they will definitely serve me well in the future as we gradually recover from this global pandemic situation and start to rebuild a new normal of life and new future of work in a post COVID-19 world.

Taking a break, recharge, reflect and planning for Year 2021

Counting down to the last few days of year 2020, starting from 19th December 2020, I started taking a break, recharge, reflect and planning for year 2021.

Shot with Canon EOS R6 with RF24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens.

That’s why I didn’t publish any news coverage during this period, just in case some of the agencies that I am working with are doing monitoring on their brands/companies media coverage. I would resume normal routine publishing of technology news from Monday 4th January 2021 with CES 2021 coverage from the technology brands that I am receiving news and updates from.

Reflecting year 2020 and planning for year 2021, I am most likely not share on my Year 2020 in review. The personal updates articles that I published over this year should suffice in the things that happened and took place during this difficult year marked by the global pandemic COVID-19. A sneak peak into year 2021, I am celebrating a milestone: 15 years of photo blogging in April 2021.

Shot with Canon EOS R6 with RF24-70mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens.

Therefore, for the last few days of 2020, I am in the process of thinking and selecting a yearly theme for year 2021 (Thanks to Fernando for sharing this tip), planning goals and objectives, strategies and directions for 2021

Soon, we can say goodbye to year 2020 and welcome year 2021. A fresh new year, a new start and a new hope in a post COVID-19 timeline.

Right now, let me take a break, recharge, reflect and plan for my year 2021!

Looking Back at H1 2020

Entering into the second half of year 2020, looking back at the first half of 2020. Over the past six months, it had been a test for the human race, a test of our resilience, mental strength, placing our world economy under extreme stress and pressure.

There were times whereby I asked myself, what were the things to look back at during the first half of 2020 since it was kind of like a very sticky situation whereby many of us were “stuck” and “confined”. While many businesses suffered very badly, some were not allowed to operate at all, some couldn’t survive.

During this first half of 2020, it might looked like there wasn’t much to reflect and summarise since the world was (and still is) fighting against this Covid-19 global pandemic. Contrary to these thoughts, I was fighting against lots of fear, anxiety, stress, pressure and cabin fever. I was glad that I penned down my thoughts, feelings and emotions during the first half of 2020, especially during the circuit breaker period in Singapore. While it wasn’t a daily diary writing exercise, I was glad to write it down and publish a few articles during the Covid-19 and circuit breaker period in Singapore. Looking back at those trying and difficult times during the initial Covid-19 and circuit breaker periods down the road would serve as a good reminder and lessons for us in the very near future.

A new normal for the world is coming onboard, a new era coming in this new decade. Digital transformation is going to accelerate further and faster, the future digital workplace is probably going to have elements of working from home (WFH) alternating with physical office, or would it be fully WFH? That remains to be seen.

From my photography and travel segment, I shared my reflection thoughts in this article on my photography business, leisure photography and travel, published on my photography and travel portal/blog.

Our journey into the second half of 2020 doesn’t look easier, the situation and conditions aren’t getting better. We need to be more prepared for another continuous turbulent journey ahead, there is a possibility that it could get worse as more countries feel the impacts from further economic downfall.

This is also the time for many of us to return back to our drawing board, to plan and strategise again during this pandemic situation and for the new normal. Preparing for inevitable changes in both big and small aspects, diversification of business plans, seeking and searching a different platform, channel, business are all in the pipeline. Upgrading and learning new skills and knowledge are getting even more important and useful during a massive downturn caused by this world pandemic.

Keeping our fingers crossed that the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic doesn’t go into a second wave and there is a vaccine for this Covid-19 pandemic coming out from the recent ongoing clinical human trials around the world.

The second half of 2020 is not going to get easier, time for adapting and adopting changes, be united together and face those challenges head-on together, whether it is the Covid-19 pandemic or world economic crisis.
