Jabra at CES 2023

Jabra, a world leader in personal sound and office solutions, is showcasing its extensive true wireless range at CES 2023 with the latest additions to its Elite and Evolve series. The latest additions are Jabra Elite 5 and Jabra Evolve2 Buds.

The Jabra Elite 5 is the newest product to Jabra’s flagship Elite line-up, featuring Hybrid ANC and 6-mic call technology for powerful calls and music from anywhere. As for the Jabra Evolve2 Buds, they are the newest product in Jabra’s Evolve series, the earbuds are designed for flexible, hybrid and remote working.

Both products have been named honourees in the 2023 CES Innovation Awards under the audio and headphones category.

Jabra Elite 5: true wireless earbuds with Hybrid ANC

The Jabra Elite 5 is the latest product in Jabra’s Elite range that features the new Hybrid ANC technology, powered by the Qualcomm QCC3050 Bluetooth chipset. The Hybrid ANC uses feedback microphones on the inside of the ear, and feedforward microphones on the outside. This makes the ANC less sensitive to the positioning in the ear, ensuring a more reliable noise cancellation across a wider range of frequencies.

This all-round hero is made for those needing to take calls from anywhere and is great for enjoying media during leisure. This is thanks to 6-microphone call technology with external mics that are constantly active, as well as internal mics that give your voice a helping hand when it’s windy outside.

Jabra Evolve2 Buds: pocketable earbuds for hybrid working

Designed to boost concentration and improve collaboration, the Evolve2 Buds are perfect for professionals working on the go. The true wireless buds are certified for leading virtual meeting platforms, including Microsoft Teams and Zoom, and use the latest technology to reduce disruptive background noise and enable clearer calls.

The Evolve2 Buds enable users to have high-quality conversations with Jabra MultiSensor Voice™, which uses a unique combination of four microphones, bone conduction sensors, and advanced algorithms to block out as much of the surrounding noise as possible.

Calum MacDougall, SVP at Jabra said, “We are delighted to be back in Las Vegas to showcase the newest products in our true wireless line-up. In the past year we have brought several unique additions to our offerings, with earbuds engineered for hybrid work. CES marks the start of yet another exciting year of innovation to come.”

Jabra PanaCast 20

Jabra announces PanaCast 20, an AI programmed enterprise-grade personal web camera. This is designed for the busy executive in a new future of work environment, seeking effective communication in a new era whereby video conferencing is the new norm for business meetings.

The hybrid future of work is here, we might be looking at a mix of working in office, working from home/remote working. This would also mean video conferencing is going to become a staple of today’s work life and future work life too. Video conferencing tools are technological devices that executives use, hold great power over their work efficiency. The Jabra PanaCast 20 is just that tool, as its artificial intelligence-driven (AI) imaging software helps relieve the video fatigue that professionals experience due to attending numerous virtual meetings. The Jabra PanaCast 20 automatically makes necessary adjustments so they can focus on delivering their presentation.

With zero delays, smart lighting optimization, AI automated focus and Picture in Picture mode, the Jabra PanaCast 20 is a powerful device that delivers excellence in one camera.

Unlike any other video conferencing device on the market that clips onto the laptop, the compact PanaCast 20 uses a unique triangulation design for easy attachment to the laptop and monitor screens which avoids the risk of damaging the LCD screen. Another unique feature of PanaCast 20, is its compatibility with Jabra Direct, a free downloadable software that lets the user customise the image settings of your PanaCast 20.

Seamless and uninterrupted high-definition video

The PanaCast 20 uses intelligent technology to provide Ultra- HD video quality without interval disruption so the user can have seamless video conferencing experiences with their business partners, facilitating coherent conversations.

Jabra PanaCast 20 4K Ultra HD Comparison

Lighting Optimization – automatically enhances video quality

The Pana Cast 20 is embedded with Jabra’s smart lighting optimization to ensure the user looks best in every single video conference. It automatically analyses the environment and adjusts the video quality to adapt to poor lighting. Therefore, the on-the-go executive can conduct his or her meeting from anywhere, be in at home, in a café or in the office and still look picture-perfect regardless of the conditions.

Intelligent zoom-in mode – keeps you within of the frame

Along with a 90-degree field of view, Jabra’s AI-driven Intelligent Zoom automatically tracks the user’s movements to adjust the framing so her or she is always at the centre of the frame. This way the user will always stay within the field of vision.

Picture in picture mode – for convenient product demonstrations

The PanaCast 20 also features Picture in Picture mode which breaks the camera stream into two screens. It allows the user to appear in a video via a small window pinned to a corner of the screen while the AI zooms into the product that he or she is holding. This mode can be used within any unified communications platform, ranging from Zoom to Microsoft Teams Meeting. As such, instead of using two cameras for dual-stream, PanaCast 20 uses a singular camera to produce two screens. This function allows the professional to deliver an impactful presentation to his or her audience, allowing them to take an up-close look at the product and have a view of the speaker simultaneously.

Ultimately, the PanaCast 20 is a plug and play device that can be used everywhere. Its portable size allows the user to bring it around conveniently for easy set-up. The PanaCast 50 is a large video bar that requires a stationary set-up in a room. It is designed to be shared among multiple users for video conferencing. On the other hand, the PanaCast 20 however is meant for personal use.

Therefore, Jabra Panacast 20 is an ideal video conferencing camera whose smart optimization functions and picture in picture mode ensures the executive excels in his or her next business meetings.

Jabra new videoconferencing solution – PanaCast 50

Jabra recently launched its new videoconferencing solution, the PanaCast 50. This new videoconferencing solution is created from the ground up in response to new business and future of work needs that arose from the ongoing global pandemic. The Jabra PanaCast 50 is designed and engineered to provide high-quality videoconferencing experiences for meeting participants while keeping them safe and always in compliance with workplace safety measures at the same time.

Patrick Khor, Country Manager, Enterprise, Jabra Singapore, said: “The new PanaCast 50 combines immersive video, world-leading audio technologies and cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) for a new way of hybrid work in the new normal.”

More natural and productive collaboration

Jabra leveraged technology to deliver intelligent zoom, active speaker detection, and other innovative capabilities – all to streamline and optimize the conferencing experience. This technology powers the Virtual Director feature to automatically adjust the frame, allowing Jabra PanaCast 50 to detect active speakers and the flow of conversation, thereby delivering a remote meeting experience that’s fully immersive and responsive.

Three 13-megapixel cameras create an immersive 180° field of view in Panoramic-4K that covers the whole room. Patented real-time video stitching technology uses advanced algorithms to decide exactly the right way to live-stitch the video streams together in real time with ultra-low latency. From single person calls to full team meetings, this intelligent technology always includes everyone in the most optimum way.

The PanaCast 50 also features eight beamforming microphones with precision voice detection which are backed up with intelligent algorithms that remove disruptive noise. Four powerful Jabra-engineered speakers – two 50mm woofers and two 20mm tweeters – in a zero-vibration stereo setup fill the room with premium, high-definition audio, while the latest 2-way audio technology delivers more natural conversations.

Enhanced workplace safety

Businesses need to ensure the safety of their employees in the workplace. Jabra uses Intel-powered AI to deliver real-time people detection and counting that helps promote compliance with infectious disease protocols. Because of its 180° field-of-view, PanaCast 50 can achieve 100% coverage of the meeting room and provides the best opportunity to count everybody in the room.

Additionally, through the network interface, longer-term analytics data is available for IT administrators, enabling the business to make data-driven decisions about how they’re utilizing their meeting spaces. Organisations will have an overview of how many rooms are being used, even when there is no active meeting, helping inform decisions on office space.

Data security

Security and privacy are top concerns for organizations. The Edge AI processing capabilities within the PanaCast 50 help keep sensitive data secure by eliminating the need to transmit video and audio data to the cloud. By performing the analysis directly on the device, cloud security and data-in-transit risks are removed from the collaboration experience. Additionally, because the experiences are powered on the device, not only are the risks of security breaches significantly minimized, the accuracy, speed, and overall quality of the experience are maximized.

Pricing and Availability

The Jabra PanaCast 50 is available in Black and Grey from all authorised Jabra distributors and resellers at a retail price of S$1,855.

Steelcase Flex – Integrated collection of furniture for the modern digital workplace

The modern digital workplace today, has evolved over the years, a significant shift away from the traditional office setup. Along with the changes in the design layout and setup, there is a change of working culture and style, transforming and entering into the modern digital workplace today. I had the opportunities to visit some of the modern digital workplaces over the past few years through some of the companies media coverage events (consumer to enterprise level). In November 2019, I had the opportunity to visit Steelcase Singapore WorkLife Centre, understanding more about their comprehensive solutions for the modern digital workplace with their Steelcase® Flex, integrated collection of furniture for the modern digital workplace.

Steelcase Flex Tables, Steelcase Flex Power Hanger

Although this wasn’t my first visit to Steelcase, I was there in September 2019 for a Jabra event, they were using one of their meeting rooms to host their media event, showcasing Jabra PanaCast and how their smart panoramic-4K video conferencing solution can be implemented in a modern digital workplace solution. In my second visit in November 2019, this was my official first visit to Steelcase whereby I was able to know more about them.

Steelcase Flex Screens, Steelcase Flex Markerboard Solutions, Steelcase Flex Accessories

With my strong interest in technology, how it has transformed the modern digital workplace, working style and culture and a short working experience in the office furniture supply business. I was able to connect the dots together between these two areas of office furniture designs and the modern digital workplace. A lot of thoughts, planning and designs were spent on Steelcase Flex designs, the quality of the furnishings are of high quality along with human and team dynamics that are being implemented in their portfolio.

Steelcase Flex Accessories, Steelcase Flex Screens, Steelcase Flex Markerboard Solutions

Steelcase® Flex, integrated collection of furniture and accessories for the modern digital workplace, aesthetically designed to meet the needs of the modern workplace of today, for the modern teams and changing activities. This collection allows the organisation to create dynamic spaces and workspaces that can be adapted demand. Teamwork is not like before, it has increased over time, becoming more interdependent, fast-paced and fluid. The teams of the modern digital workplace have embraced agile and design thinking methodologies, the pace is faster and customer centric activities have increased in importance in the modern era of social media and internet connectivity.

The modern teams of today’s market need a good mix of private and collaboration spaces, a cosy and conducive modern office environment, that can bring out the strengths of an individual and dynamics of team collaboration.

“Despite this dramatic change, most fixed workplaces are still designed to support a more linear work process. Teams need to be empowered to adapt their space for group or individual needs on demand. This is in consideration of privacy needs or to accommodate transitioning between different work mode without breaking the flow,” said Samantha Giam, Product Marketing Director, Steelcase Asia Pacific.

Steelcase® Flex Collection

Steelcase started research in 2017, observing daily activities of creative and high-tech teams globally. Through their frustrations and changes that the teams made to change their office space, inspired the birth of Steelcase Flex Collection which includes moveable desks, tables, marker boards, carts, screens and accessories. They can easily reconfigured and adjusted to suit the needs of the individual and team needs.

“To collaborate and work in new ways, teams need the flexibility to change how and where they work. Steelcase Flex Collection has been designed to deliver just the right amount of control to individuals and teams, allowing people to reconfigure their spaces in a matter of minutes. Each piece works well on its own, but just like a team, they work better together,” said Giam.

Steelcase Flex Markerboard Solutions, Steelcase Flex Carts, Steelcase Flex Accessories

Through a global research conducted by Steelcase, the study revealed interesting findings on the broader needs of hyper-collaborative teams around the world.

  • 70% of people are still trying to collaborate in traditional fixed conference rooms;
  • 81% of collaborative work is scheduled; only 19% say their collaboration is at least somewhat spontaneous;
  • 68% say they struggle to stay focused amid distractions; and
  • 62% of people are unable to move their furniture to support changing activities, while the majority would like this feature.

Steelcase Flex Collection address those findings, they also integrate with Steelcase® Roam™ seamlessly that gives works the freedom to collaborate virtually anywhere.

Steelcase Flex Accessories, Steelcase Flex Carts (2)

While Steelcase has a comprehensive portfolio of solutions for the modern workplace, ready for organisations to select and embark upon a new modern digital workplace journey. How many companies and organisations are willing to take the bold step, change, adopt and adapt into a modern digital workplace? Some of the big companies have started on it, the medium sized ones and even startups are coming up, yet how about the small enterprises?

For me, if I get to grow my photography business and add on my other business portfolios, putting them together into a SOHO (small office home office), I would really like some of the Steelcase® Flex solutions to be part of my SOHO (if I find a nice loft apartment that I like!)

If your organisation are willing and thinking of evolving into a modern workplace, Steelcase can be the organisation to help your office transform into a modern digital workplace.

I would like to thank Steelcase and BCW Singapore for the invitation to visit Steelcase Singapore WorkLife Centre.

Jabra launched Jabra PanaCast

Jabra, the world’s leading provider of communication solutions, recently launched Jabra PanaCast, a smart panoramic-4K video conferencing solution with 180-degree vision. At a recent event held in Singapore, I had a first hands experience of viewing the Jabra PanaCast in action.

A small, lightweight and portable video conferencing device, I was impressed by its 180-degree vision and quality. When I was facing the Jabra PanaCast device, walking from left to right, viewing at myself on the television screen, I wasn’t pixelated or “stretched” when walking across in a panoramic manner. This shows the quality of the software, processing and editing powers behind the panoramic cameras.

During the demonstration of the Jabra PanaCast inside a huddle room setup, we experienced video conferencing in a small, and informal meeting environment. Alright, take a look at the photo below, spot the number of people in the huddle room! Jabra PanaCast can be used together with various business software solutions available in the market or just with your video camera function on your computer.

More than just video conferencing for businesses, can be used for other industries such as education and hospitals whereby the Jabra PanaCast was used for teaching purposes. The Jabra PanaCast can be mounted on the walls, below the TV monitor, it is just as portable, can be mounted on a lightweight table stand or on your laptop, something that you can bring for your meetings outside while on the move.

Whether you are a big or small business organisation, the Jabra PanaCast would definitely be a worthy consideration for your communication and video conferencing setup with partners and colleagues overseas. Other industries such as education and medical, they can also look into it too!

Let me share with you more information and details on the Jabra PanaCast below:

Wayne Lee, APAC Head of Products & Alliances, Jabra said: “We are excited to introduce Jabra PanaCast to help businesses in Asia achieve optimal collaboration and productivity through our expertise in sound and video technology. In this age of remote working and cross-country teamwork where seamless communication is critical, PanaCast takes business meetings to the next level with intelligent video conferencing that brings remote workers and huddle room participants closer for effective collaboration.”

As the world’s first intelligent panoramic video collaboration device, Jabra PanaCast has three 13-megapixel cameras working together as one through the built-in Jabra PanaCast Vision Processor. The multi-camera array solution offers a full 180-degree panoramic field of view to create a naturally immersive conference experience that fosters collaboration and enhances productivity.

Jabra PanaCast joins Jabra’s portfolio of solutions that enhance productivity through improved concentration, conversation and collaboration. With Jabra PanaCast, Jabra will be combining its 150-year expertise in sound with industry-first video technology to deliver the most collaborative huddle room experience to date.

Wall-to-wall coverage

Leading-edge cameras and microphones, fourth-generation stitching technology and Intelligent Vision software work as one to ensure optimal performance by Jabra PanaCast. With wall-to-wall coverage in panoramic 4K video, Jabra PanaCast enables companies to fully utilise their meeting spaces, eliminating the approximately 40 per cent room wastage seen with conventional camera solutions.

Using Artificial Intelligence to better manage resources

Jabra PanaCast’s built-in people detection technology can capture accurate usage and occupancy information. The advanced AI utilizes a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to count the number of people in the field of view, up to 12m away, and provide numeric data which organisations can use to guide decisions on calendar management, room utilisation and resource management, or to automate facility assets’ power management, such as TV monitors, lights, video conferencing equipment and more. The technology will be available through the Jabra PanaCast API built for the Windows operating system and can be used for large areas like classrooms, auditoriums and general gatherings.

Combining the best of video and audio

Jabra’s leading conference speakerphone series “Speak” can be paired with Jabra PanaCast to further optimise the conference experience, enabling users to hold meetings wherever they may be without having to compromise on clear audio quality.
