MPL SG S4 Grand Finals Champion – RSG SG

A nail biting and a brilliant conclusion to Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore Season 4 (MPL SG S4) took place on 9th October 2022 at Our Tampines Hub, presenting MPL SG S4 Grand Finals Champion – RSG SG! They will be representing Singapore at the world finals in Jakarta next January 2023. RSG SG beat their fiercest rivals Slate Esports, they are back-to-back season champions and became the first team in MPL SG history to finish an entire season without losing a single match.

RSG SG lifting their trophy after winning the MPL SG S4 title at Our Tampines Hub on 9 October 2022

In MPL SG S4, the encounters between RSG SG and Slate Esports have been nothing short of electric. RSG SG struck first with a 2-0 win in the League, followed by a nail-biting 3-2 win on Day One of the playoffs. I went down to Our Tampines Hub and watched RSG SG and Slate Esports during Day One of the playoffs where both teams gave the crowd and supporters a lot to cheer about in lengthy 5 games battle, a prelude to the MPL SG S4 Grand Finals between them on the following day.

Slate Esports dispatched EVIL comfortably (3-0) in the Lower Bracket Finals, the stage was now set for a highly anticipated finale between MPL SG’s now eternal rivals. Slate Esports got off to a great start by taking the first game, they had been getting the worst of it in recent encounters. RSG SG responded instantly with venom, and both Slate Esports and RSG SG traded the lead until the final, winner-takes-all game. RSG SG finished with great confidence and style, sending the supporters in the crowd wild.

There were a crowd of over 500 viewers watching it live at Our Tampines Hub, giving great support to the teams that they were supporting, creating a raucous atmosphere fitting for this Grand Finals occasion. There was also a record of 32,545 online viewers watching concurrently, outperforming MPL SG previous seasons in online viewership.

Lee Jian Ming, Managing Director, Zenway Productions, said: “The steady improvement of the local professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports scene was the highlight of MPL Singapore Season 4 as fans were treated to many high-octane matches throughout the season. The viewership numbers, online and offline, more than doubled from last season. More fans are now willing to take their weekends off to watch our top teams in action to continuously watch our Grand Finals – which lasted almost seven hours, and yet there was no drop in fans onsite. The increase in numbers showcases the huge potential of esports in Singapore, and we will continue to push for better viewing experiences next season.”

Left to Right: Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development and Chris Yeo Jun Jie, MPL Singapore Caster

Mr Masagos Zulkifli, Minister for Social and Family Development, was also on hand to award the prizes for Best Rookie to Vernon “Peace” Chua, Regular Season MVP to Bellamy “Lolsie” Yeo, and Best Caster to Chris “Jayz” Yeo, who as a result will represent Singapore in the casting booth at the M4 World Championship in Jakarta. Yeo “Diablo” Wee Lun of RSG SG was also named MVP for the Playoffs.

MPL SG S4 is now over, done and dusted, RSG SG will now focus on the next big challenge, the most prestigious title on the MPL calendar, the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M4) that would be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 1st to 15th January 2023. At MPL M4, 16 of the world’s best MLBB teams will compete for the prestigious title of World Champions and grab the lion’s share of the USD$800,000 prize money.

Congratulations to RSG SG for winning MPL SG S4 Grand Finals, as well as a special mention and credit to Slate Esports for going all out and giving them a great fight!

Wishing RSG SG good luck and all the best in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M4) taking place in Jakarta, Indonesia from 1st to 15th January 2023!

MPL SG Season 4 Playoffs 7-9 October 2022 at Tampines Hub

The Regular Season of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Singapore Season 4 (MPL SG S4) has ended recently, with RSG SG making a stunning clean sweep. The Season 3 Champions proved their mettle once again by besting all of the other teams, winning 2-0 in each best-of-three match and they only drop a single game in its match against Stellark. Now MPL SG Season 4 goes into the next phase, it is now Playoffs time, taking place from 7th to 9th October 2022 at Tampunes Hub. The MPL SG S4 Playoffs will be open to the public. Eight of the best teams in Singapore will fight it out for the coveted title of MPL SG S4 Champion and a spot at the M4 World Championships taking place in Jakarta from 1st to 15th January 2023.

In a repeat of last season’s standings, the champions reigned at the top, followed by fierce rivals Slate in 2nd place. Slate is the successor to perennial favourites EVOS SG, as it features the manager, the captain, and the majority of players from the now-defunct team. RSG SG won 2-0 and went on to beat Stellark SG (formerly Team Oldman) 2-1 in their final match.

As for the 3rd and 4th places, they are Revival (formerly ALMGHTY) and Team SMG, known as singer JJ Lin’s team. Both teams have improved significantly from their bottom 3 finishes last season, they will be joining RSG SG and Slate as the seeded teams in the Upper Bracket of the Playoffs.

Stellark SG is the sole new team for this season with an older-than-average squad, they showed that veterans were still highly competitive, finishing a respectable fifth in the table.

Jaime Cruz, Esports Lead at MOONTON Games said: “Season 4 has given us its fair share of memorable highlights: RSG SG and Slate Esports’ intense rivalry and outstanding run culminating in a table-deciding showdown on the last week of the Regular Season; and Team SMG and Revival’s drastic improvement to finish in the top half of the table. The hard work and efforts of the players have showcased the competitive spirit of MPL SG, and I’m excited for fans to witness even more thrilling matches in the Playoffs.”

Lee Jian Ming, Founder and Managing Director, Zenway Productions, said, “MLBB is the biggest game in Singapore’s esports scene and MPL SG S4 demonstrates just why with its irresistible blend of action and drama. Zenway Productions is proud to be able to bring all of these moments to fans around the world. The hybrid model where fans can watch the games in person or online is perfect for esports and we’re excited to bring this to the fans to enjoy.”

Top MPL SG athletes are frequently chosen to represent Singapore at regional esports competitions. Four players in the current MPL SG S4 represented Singapore at the recent 2021 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam – ‘Seilah’, ‘Adammir’, and ‘JPL’ from Slate Esports and ‘Remaniscent’ from Team Flash – and secured a Bronze medal in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang category.

The eight teams now enter the double-elimination playoffs to compete for the title and the coveted lion’s share of the SGD 100,000 prize pool. The winner will also represent Singapore at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Championship (M4), which will be held in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 1-15 January 2023. The M4 is the most prestigious title on the MPL calendar, where 16 of the world’s best MLBB teams will be competing for the title of World Champion, and the lion’s share of the USD 800,000 prize money.

World’s First Force-Pad Gaming Keyboard by WRAEK

Gaming on your desktop PC or laptop, deep into your favourite game using your keyboard and gaming mouse. Have you ever thought of having an extra hand to help you in your gaming time? For gamers and eSports players, now you can, with the world’s first force-pad gaming keyboard by WRAEK.

Who is WRAEK? They are a homegrown (Singapore) start-up, founded by Ryan Siah (24), Chik Cheng Jie (26) and Chen Pinzhang (26). These three friends met at the National University of Singapore (NUS) entrepreneurship society. They love gaming, bonded through their love for gaming, giving rise to their start-up WRAEK.

They are now on the verge of a technology breakthrough as WRAEK announced its first two products – the WRAEK Tactonic Keyboard (USD$149) and the WRAEK Tactonic Pad (USD$119).

WRAEK Tactonic Keyboard and the WRAEK Tactonic Pad

The two gaming devices can work individually and they can also be combined together via magnets to function as one. Gamers and eSports players, you can get them together in the WRAEK Tactonic Pro Bundle – consisting of the keyboard and the force-pad controller costs USD$259 on Kickstarter with a 35% discount (Kickstarter price is USD$169 after the 35% discount).

What makes the WRAEK Tactonic Pad special and unique? It’s the technology breakthrough behind them. The Tactonic Pad works like a joystick for the palm. Instead of having fingers resting on the W, A, S and D movement keys, the force-pad maps directional force of the palm for users to execute character movements. Akin to the simplified movements of a joystick, the force-pad is maneuvered through the gentle pushes of the palm.

WRAEK built this force-pad controller from the ground up, at its own office and has a patent pending for its innovation. This is the world’s first palm-controller of its kind. WRAEK has already raised $300,000 since its humble beginnings – with the funds coming from an angel investor, government funding, friends, and family.

The Tactonic Pad offers a competitive advantage for gamers, especially in three genres – MOBA, MMORPG and shooter. The advantage in MMORPGs like World Of Warcraft and in shooters such as Valorant and Overwatch is obvious – the force-pad frees the fingers from the movement keys on the keyboard, eliminating the constant need to switch between keys.

In MOBAS such as League of Legends and DOTA, the force-pad can be used for camera panning instead of moving the mouse to the edges of the screen. This allows efficient mouse movement and higher cursor control.

Personal Thoughts and Short Hands On Experience

I had a short hands on session with the WRAEK Tactonic Keyboard and the WRAEK Tactonic Pad during their media event. Me, the old and former gamer, was brought back into the gaming world. For a rusty old hand like myself, I was able to get the hang of using the WRAEK Tactonic Pad after some warm up and tips on how to use the Tactonic Pad.

This Tactonic Pad gaming accessory device is no longer “literally” a third helping hand, it’s going to be your actual/real third helping hand, without borrowing extra props to plant on yourself. Personally, I foresee not just great potential, I reckon it can be a game changer for the gaming and esports world, ushering in a new era of gaming and esports.

I can imagine how much thrill, fun and excitement the gamers and esports players can have when they configure their own gaming settings and preferences on the Tactonic Pad and Tactonic Keyboard.

Keep a lookout for more exciting gaming developments from WRAEK in the near future!

Where can I get the WRAEK Tactonic Keyboard and the WRAEK Tactonic Pad?

Gamers and eSports players, if you are keen to get your hands on the world’s first force-pad gaming keyboard by WRAEK and embark on a new era of gaming, the WRAEK Tactonic Keyboard and the WRAEK Tactonic Pad, you can pre-oder it on Kickstarter!

Alienware celebrates 25th Anniversary with new Flagship Desktop

25 years milestone in the gaming industry, Alienware celebrates its 25th Anniversary with new Flagship Desktop, the launch of the redesigned Alienware Aurora. This gaming desktop was first introduced in 2004 as the Aurora AL, the flagship desktop stood as a symbol of innovation for pioneering the liquid-cooling movement. Since then, it has become the mid-tower desktop of choice for the world’s best esports players in the most demanding, high-stakes tournaments. The latest Alienware Aurora is set to be the pinnacle of Alienware desktop experiences, a testimonial to the level of innovation that continues to drive its most evolved form.

Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming Desktop / Widowmaker ADL (Alder Lake), Dark Chassis with solid panel (side panel) and no front ambient lighting (product with 460W SFF PSU). 2 lighting zones on front panel. Featured with the AW2721D monitor, AW510H Headset, AW510K Keyboard, and AW610m Mouse.

When form follows function

This new Alienware Aurora is debuting an open-air design that reorganises its inner components to promote better accessibility, greater airflow, improved acoustics, and cleaner cable management. This would definitely enrich the gaming experience in every possible way for esports players and gamers.

This new open-air design increases internal chassis volume by a whopping 50% without significantly expanding the overall footprint of the chassis.(1) The result is more efficient total airflow and reduced acoustic profile that provides gamers with a more enjoyable daily experience, all while providing a 5% increase in graphics performance.(2)

Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming Desktop / Widowmaker ADL (Alder Lake), Dark Chassis with Clear Panel (side panel) and front Ambient Lighting.

Thoughtful thermals and awesome acoustics

The latest Alienware Aurora boasts a robust new thermal design to improve airflow, this is set to be a game changer. They can now support up to four 120mm fans and liquid cooling options, the new Aurora takes full advantage of the open-air design to keep the desktop performing cooler through the most-intense gaming sessions.

The Aurora facilitates higher airflow efficiency by intaking cool air through the honeycomb-shaped airways on the front of the desktop and moving it across the motherboard and performance components, before evacuating it out the rear end of the chassis.

Alienware Aurora R13 Gaming Desktop / Widowmaker ADL (Alder Lake), Dark Chassis and Light Chassis with clear panel, with Cryo-Tech Liquid Cooling and Front Ambient Lighting. Featured here with thermal airflow VFX.

With more fans working efficiently, it not only helps a desktop to stay cooler, but also quieter. As compared to past generations, the new Alienware Aurora is up to 16% quieter at idle mode, up to 9% quieter during CPU intensive tasks, and up to 15% quieter during overclocking.(3)

For esports players and gamers, this would allow them to have better focus during quiet character conversations and other mellow scenarios, undeterred by the muted symphony operating inside the chassis.

Where the soul meets the body

The new Aurora’s exterior advancements are a sight to behold, visually noticeable all way around, carefully crafted making it looks just as good from the rear as it does from the front. With its expressive curves and an iconic sculpted shape revealing a 360 design that makes the new Aurora look stunning from all angles on both Lunar Light and Dark Side of the Moon colour options.

For the first time, Alienware is offering an optional transparent left-side panel that provides a window for the dark new motherboard illuminated by up to eight unique zones of AlienFX customisable lighting to be seen. Also new is an optional magnetic cable cover that neatly stows cables and conceals ports on the rear side. Seagate announced PC gaming SSD FireCuda™ 530

Seagate Technology Holdings plc (NASDAQ: STX) recently announced its newest PC gaming SSD, the FireCuda530. This new PC gaming SSD is now available in Singapore. The new drive offers gamers the latest PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD technology and the fastest performance from the company’s line of PC gaming storage products – bringing speed, endurance, and high capacity to the peak of PC performance. Seagate also offers a minimalistic heatsink option for FireCuda 530, specially designed by EKWB for tighter builds and enhanced thermal management.

Seagate FireCuda 530 drives

Seagate’s FireCuda 530 drives come with a three-year Rescue Data Recovery Service plan and a five-year limited warranty. This would give gamers a peace of mind knowing their data is secure. The new Seagate FireCuda drive also comes bundled with Seagate’s SeaTools and DiscWizard, making it easy for gamers and PC builders to add new drives to their computer and monitor the health and performance of each drive.

Delivering sequential read speeds of up to 7300 MB/s, the FireCuda 530 catalyzes PCIe Gen4 power with transfer rates up to two times faster than PCIe Gen3 SSDs and 12 times faster than SATA-based SSDs. The drive is built with a Seagate-validated E18 controller and the latest 3D TLC NAND to provide the most advanced speed and durability for PC gaming.

Seagate FireCuda 530 Heatsink Option

NVMe PCIe Gen4 extreme speeds generate extra heat. That’s why Seagate partnered with EKWB — a leader in heat management — to develop FireCuda 530’s custom heatsink. Built from a high-grade aluminium block with a finely textured anodized finish to help maximise cooling efficiency, this built-in heatsink helps minimise thermal throttling while maximising peak performance for longer periods of time.

The FireCuda 530 with heatsink is compatible with PS5™ consoles, and meets PS5 specs* on performance and dimensions. FireCuda’s built-in heatsink and SSD combo makes for an easy drop-in expansion solution with no additional parts needed.

Pricing and Availability

The Seagate FireCuda 530 drives are available in capacities up to 4TB, the FireCuda 530 offers long lasting endurance of 1.8M MTBF and up to 5100 TBW— meaning gamers can write and delete 70% of the drive capacity every day for 5 years.

The Seagate FireCuda 530 is available now for S$199 (500GB), S$349 (1TB), S$729 (2TB) and S$1,399 (4TB).
