Introducing TGH Photography & Hpility SG

In an earlier post on my photography and travel site, www.photojournalist-tgh.tv, I introduced my photography portfolio website, my photography business logo and my partnership with Hpility SG. That post was more of a formal announcement, in this post that I am sharing here on my personal website, it’s more informal and personal, while introducing TGH Photography & Hpility SG.

First and foremost, let me introduce my photography portfolio website www.tghphotography.com, I wrote and shared about my new portfolio website in an earlier post. They were kind of a soft launch type instead of an official announcement launch. Building it up from scratch, setting up a small business, lots of hard work, sweat, tears, stress, pressure and some voices from the sides (from both good and bad angle).

When the earlier article was posted on my FB personal wall and FB page, I received congrats from a few friends and I really see it as a blessing, in lieu of the slow economy in the year 2017 and taking a big plunge into this journey. At times, there were also voices and opinions that weren’t as encouraging, critical and a few times, putting you down, looking down on you or maybe don’t want you to enter and become their competitor. I had to shut them down, away from my ears, heart, mind and brain.

The journey had never been smooth, always a roller coaster, some friends who are small business owners from other industries, fellow photographer friends and close friends who always listen to me ranting from somewhere behind, are among a few group of friends who can and are willing to understand this journey that I took. I really appreciate all these (small and big) help and encouragement that you had given me from behind the scenes that cannot be seen here (and it’s going to a few pages of essay writing to get it out here too). Thank you very much!

Next, there were things that I learned along the way, the hard way, since I am currently a one person business operation. There are some things that are needed to be done and it gets slipped out of your radar due to the magnitude and quantity of things to be done. One of them was a company logo.

Now, let me tell you the story behind this logo. I was “pushed”, in a good way by Hong Peng of Hpility SG, to get the company logo done up because it was needed for the partnership collaboration on Hpility SG, a Digital Lifestyle Blog-Portal. There were some delays and procrastination that I admit, not knowing where and how to go about doing it as well. Finding my own way through, shortlisting designers and finally settling on this design by hatchdesign. I am impressed with his logo design for my photography portfolio website www.tghphotography.com

Last but not least, let me introduce Hpility SG!

Hpility SG is founded by Hong Peng, it is a digital blog-portal that covers a variety of interests from lifestyle, travel, food, gadgets and entertainment. We had a good discussion on this partnership between Tan Geng Hui Photography and Hpility SG, we are currently building up the foundations, procedures and networks for our partnership to grow and expand further down the road.

This is a new start, a new hope, there are still a lot of things to work on, explore, expand and push forward to greater heights. A new journey ahead, time for this partnership between TGH Photography and Hpility SG to light up and open up a new path ahead.

Branding, Marketing, PR and Publicity

These four words have been an integral part of my work and social media engagements. I didn’t learn it as a specialisation in university, just as a subject that was part of my business degree curriculum. When I started working in the financial services industry 10 years ago, the nature of the industry taught me many real life work experiences relating to branding, marketing, public relations and publicity.

They were extended into my social media exploration adventure, from a social media consumer in 2006 to a social media influencer today. The branding, marketing, public relations, publicity and a bit of fame doesn’t fall from the sky. They were built through lots and lots of hard work, sweat, tears with emotions going high and low at different cross roads in time.

My Hokkaido Photographers Invitation Program in November 2014 was probably my maiden start into a higher level of branding, marketing, public relations and publicity. I was very grateful and full of gratitude for everybody that had supported me in this journey.

Fast forward into the May 2015, having a management and leadership role in my family business. I began to apply my various experiences in branding, marketing, public relations and publicity to my organisation. This efforts took a while and it began to see some fruits of labour from them. As I began to enter the third quarter of 2015, there are a number of events/things (3 to 4 of them) happening in the month of May and June, that puts me, my work, photography and social media sharing into a bigger limelight.

I would not know how I would feel when the 3 to 4 events/things come in, the excitement, anxiety and euphoria. Nevertheless, I must always remind myself to remain humble, down to earth, continue to learn and improve. I must not let fame get into my head.

Had I finally make it? Maybe Not Yet, I still have a lot more to learn, improve, grow and lead. Yes, I have punched through this level and can hold my head up high, to reach a top and see that my journeys ahead are going to be even higher and bigger summits, for me to carry on forward and conquer them.

SK Planet Launches Pickat in Singapore

Pickat SG, a location-based social application, that allows you to discover, create and share locations/things/information easily is now in Singapore! Singapore is the first global market to launch Pickat after South Korea. With our online social media/internet usage and ownership of smartphones in Singapore, location-based social application will only get more popular and useful for people (especially for social media influencers to share with their fans/followers/supporters) to discover, create and share their favourite locations/things/information from food, drinks, shopping and entertainment!

Pickat SG is launched by SK Planet, a subsidiary of South Korea’s largest Telecommunications company SK Telecom. Pickat SG is an interesting and useful app for your smartphone, let me share with you some of their key features –

 Key features of Pickat include: 

1. Picks: A Pick is created when a place of interest and a theme is combined to share information about both a place and the interesting quality about the place.

  • Place of Interest (POI): A place of interest is a physical location in Singapore. It can be a restaurant or a tourist attraction or a fashion retail store.
  • Themes: A theme is a tagline or review to describe a Place of Interest. Multiple POIs can be grouped into the same theme. This feature allows users to subjectively filter their experiences by grouping all POIs together within the same group and allow friends and community to access the information.

For example, themes can be as simple as “Light Lunches” to more specific ones such as “Romantic First Dates” or “Restaurants with Craft Beer”. Users can connect with other Pickat users or their themes to find out about their discoveries (“Picks”), or connect via your social networks to see what your friends have been discovering.

Top Picker: A Top Picker is a power user who frequents many POIs and provides reviews, recommendations and experiences in the form of themes.

2. Launching first in Singapore, there will be a coupon feature which updates users on the latest available location-based deals such as discounts and freebies. Additionally, the coupon function also enables users to enjoy special discounts from Pickat’s partner merchants

Pricing and availability: 

Pickat is currently available for both iOS and Android users, and can be downloaded for free from the Apple iTunes store and Google Play from 14 June, 2013.
