For those seeking to cultivate better health and well-being habits, the latest Samsung smartwatches, including Galaxy Watch3, combine smartphone-level productivity and cutting-edge technology in a premium, timeless device. Besides advanced running analytics, blood oxygen monitoring (SpO2)[1], and enhanced Together feature whereby users can challenge their fellow fitness buddies, the Galaxy Watch3 also features blood pressure (BP) monitoring[2], electrocardiogram (ECG) readings[3], as well as a new feature that detects falls and can send an SOS notification to your chosen contacts[4].

Notes:

[1] This device or software is intended for use only for general wellbeing purposes or to encouraging or maintain a healthy lifestyle, and is not intended to be used for any medical purpose (such as the detection, diagnosis, monitoring, management or treatment of any medical condition or disease). Any health-related information provided by this device or software should not be treated as medical advice. Please consult a physician for any medical advice required. Feature not supported in Japan, Angola, South Africa, Thailand, Iran, Libya, France, Algeria, and Brazil. Availability may vary by country or region. SpO2 is defined as saturation of percutaneous oxygen. Normal levels in humans are measured at approximately 95-100%. Factors like vigorous exercise, the amount of oxygen in the air, your elevation, and various health conditions can all result in lower readings.

[2] To ensure accuracy, users should calibrate their device every four weeks with a traditional blood pressure cuff.

[3] Blood Pressure (BP) and Electrocardiogram (ECG) readings are not available in Singapore at the moment. Updates to be released in the future. Detailed disclaimers apply in respect of the features.

[4] Galaxy Watch3 can initiate Emergency call and message if you take a hard fall and do not seem to move. Galaxy Watch3 cannot detect all falls. The more physically active you are, the more likely you are to trigger Fall Detection due to high impact activity that can appear to be a fall. Sending SOS calls and messages requires network connection and smartphone pairing.

This is going to be a difficult time for all of us here in Singapore. Let’s stay calm, don’t rush down to the supermarkets and hoard items, daily necessities. Remember to practice safe social distancing and good personal hygiene. Wear a mask if you have to go out. Keep a safe distance if you are going to the parks for your exercises and keeping fit.

#Singapore #circuitbreaker is starting today on Tuesday 7th April, while I have been working from home for past few weeks, I am also adapting to the additional measures being announced. We all need to be #SGUnited #SGTogether and make it work. Let’s don’t let this circuit breaker extend beyond this period!

Wash Your Hands, Stay Fit and Healthy

The COVID-19 news are getting heavily broadcasted into our face head on, from news on tv, radio, newspapers to internet and social media platforms. The whole world is getting bombarded by all these news, travel restrictions have been implemented, some countries have gone into lockdown, causing massive disruption to daily living and work among neighbouring countries and other parts of the world. Hopefully, a vaccine for this virus can be ready soon and we can get back to our normal daily life around the world. Meanwhile, I just want to remind people of these two messages, wash you hands, stay fit and healthy.

Wash Your Hands

This is the time to reinforce practicing good personal hygiene today and beyond. Clean hands protect against infection (such as the COVID-19 virus) getting into your body through your eyes, nose or throat.

Let’s all do our part to continue spreading this health message to your family, loved ones and friends. Thanks to Wash Your Lyrics, why not choose a favourite song that you love to sing along, put into a hand washing infographic on hand-washing technique with soap and water? Create your own, pass it on, pay it forward and remind each other to practice good personal hygiene!

I chose one of my favourite rock ballads, More Than Words by Extreme, for this Wash Your Lyrics poster!

Stay Fit and Healthy

The COVID-19 situation has caused massive disruption to both local and world economies, daily living, businesses etc. From working from home (WFH) to social distancing, we are all working on minimising big crowds events, gatherings. That does not mean being anti-social or be lazy binge watch on dramas at home with your snacks and tidbits.

On the topic of good personal hygiene along with healthy living, this makes it a good time to remind ourselves to stay fit and healthy, from exercising and having a good workout (without weights or fitness equipment in the gym) in the comfort of your own home , to exercising at the neighbourhood fitness parks, walking/jogging at the nature parks or trekking in the nature reserves.

Whichever form of exercises or physical activities that you are going to embark on to stay fit and healthy, do remember to do your stretching exercises before you start your favourite exercises or physical activities! Yes, that even applies to your hiking in the nature parks!

In this very difficult and turbulent period at the start of Year 2020, the whole world needs to stay united and fight against the COVID-19 virus together.

Let’s all continue to Keep Calm and Carry On.

Theme and Goals for Year 2020 (Technology and Personal)

At the start of a new year, I would usually set aside time to reflect and review my previous year, followed by planning, strategising and writing down my goals and objectives for the new year. I do write down my goals for the new year, publish the goals that I set in my articles on my photography and travel portal/blog and technology/business/personal portal/blog. For this new year 2020, I decided to try something different, a new approach, with a theme and goals for Year 2020 (Technology and Personal)

Setting a theme for Year 2020 was inspired by Fernando Gros recent article, “Momentum – Yearly Theme For 2020”. Having met Fernando in person, a very talented creative, musician, photographer and writer, I also have his book, “No Missing Tools”, very inspiring, opening a world that I never thought that I ever have inside me, on the subject of creativity. Fernando has been an inspiration for me as a photographer and writer, learning, changing, evolving and adapting in this current modern world filled with so much fast moving information, news, images and videos.

As I decided on a single word to choose my theme for Year 2020, it was a bit of a struggle since this was my maiden attempt. Seeking the advice of my old classmate Michael, from my primary school days (his command of the English language is way better than me), he advised me to find a phrase that would suit me personally, after an interesting discussion and brain storming, this phrase appeared “Striving to Excel”, our primary school motto (and our primary school is no longer around, they have merged with other primary school in my neighourhood).

My theme for Year 2020 is “Striving to Excel”, I focus on two different approaches, for my photography and travel portal/blog, I published a separate article on “Theme and Goals for Year 2020 (Photography and Travel)” and I would publish on my “Theme and Goals for Year 2020 (Technology and Personal)” right here in this article. Another new approach for this year, I am not revealing my other business goals and plans for this year, you can still find some bits and pieces in previous articles, if you have been a regular reader on my two websites.

Theme for Year 2020 – Striving to Excel

Personal Goals for 2020

  • Spend quality time with family and selected group of friends
  • Less confrontation and friction with people
  • Stop chasing trends, styles and likes
  • Avoid trolls and nasty people (including relatives and friends)
  • Always be mindful of the pitfalls of using social media
  • Spending more time on reading
  • Spending more time on journaling, writing and sketching
  • Constant self improvement and learning new knowledge, skills
  • For those people and organisations that don’t appreciate the hard work + free coverage that I put in over the years, I might probably slowly move away into other coverage areas
  • Be happy with I am doing and not be affected by people telling me what I should do
  • Stay healthy, eat more healthy
  • Lose weight, be more disciplined in exercises and fitness workouts

Technology Goals for 2020

  • Expand my coverage on B2B / Enterprise technology areas
  • Develop niche technology coverage areas
  • Get my customised in-ear monitors
  • Maintain my B2C technology coverage areas

Striving to Excel, in both personal and professional capacity, for my Year 2020. Come on board, follow me on my B2C + B2B technology coverage and personal writing adventures!

Jabra Elite Active 65t Review

The Jabra Elite Active 65t is one of the products in the wide and diverse range of Jabra’s lineup of headsets for both office and leisure. I reviewed the Jabra Elite 85h previously, continuing on to take on Jabra earbuds review and I got the opportunity to do the Jabra Elite Active 65t review.

Aesthetics

This pair of true wireless earbuds are lightweight, with a good secure fit that makes it snug and secure into your ears with its in-ear form factor, that allows you to enjoy active daily lifestyle whether at work, commuting or doing sports. It is sweat and dust resistant with its IP56 rating and comes with a two year warranty against damage from sweat and dust.

They are available in Copper Blue, Titanium Black and Copper Red colours, a good mix to choose from for the lifestyle/sporty folks and working professionals.

Audio/Sound

The Jabra Elite Active 65t audio quality is good, it’s clear and crisp, making it good for taking calls on your earbuds. On the bass, it’s decent, not strong/powerful in my personal view. As for the mid range, it’s clear, detailed and natural, without being too overwhelming bright or underwhelming dull. On the treble, it’s a bit lacking in this area, I would need to push the volume up to get the loudness/highs.

However, you are able to customise and personalise the sound on the Jabra Elite Active 65t to meet your needs and expectations.

Technology

The Jabra Elite Active 65t has some nice technology built inside them. When you take the earbuds out from the charging case, it automatically turns on and when one of the earbuds is taken out from the ear, it automatically pause.

They can connect to 2 devices at a time, bluetooth pairing up to 8 devices, running on Bluetooth 5.0 and up to 10 metres operating wireless range. There is also the accelerometer that can track your fitness and performance with an integrated motion sensor.

Jabra Sound+ App

The Jabra Sound+ App is available for you to customise and personalise your sound to meet your audio expectations. Personally, I like earbuds and headphones that allows me to personalise and customise my sound through an app. This is also the place whereby you can control the other technological functions and capabilities of the Jabra Elite Active 65t, the Voice Assistant whereby you can have instant access to your voice assistant (from Amazon Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant) direct to your earbuds.

HearThrough

HearThrough is one of the technological capabilities built inside the Jabra Elite Active 65t. On the Jabra Sounds+ App, you can control and filter the level of sounds that surrounds you. There are times whereby we would love listening to music without any external sound distraction, there also times whereby we would also need to be aware of our surroundings e.g. listening to music on the move and we need to be aware of our surroundings. The HearThrough is the function that does this for you.

Thoughts and views

The Jabra Elite Active 65t is true wireless earbuds, ideal for people with an active and sporting lifestyle, for both daily work and leisure, taking calls, doing sports or listening to music while on the move.

Battery life is up to 5 hours from a single charge, with another 10 hours extra from the charging case. Depending on your usage, it might be enough battery juice for you or might not be enough for your usage.

As for the sound quality, while it would suit most people in the market. The Jabra Elite Active 65t would be suitable for those busy working professionals that needs to communicate while on the move with their clear voice quality and connectivity, they are also ideal for those who have an active sports lifestyle and the everyday user on the move or at home.

I would like to thank Jabra (Singapore) and GLOO PR for the opportunity to review the Jabra Elite Active 65t

Singtel launched wellness platform, StepUp, with AIA

Singtel recently launched a wellness platform, StepUp, with AIA, a partnership to reward customers for keeping active. This wellness platform announcement was a very interesting and exciting partnership, from both technological, wellness and how companies are changing and adapting in this current internet and digital era.

Singtel has been on the forefront in making big decisions and changes in this fast changing economy marked with lots of changes to technology, social media and consumer behaviour. They are not just a telecommunications company, they are now moving closer towards being a one step consumer lifestyle portal.

At the official media launch of the StepUp wellness platform by Singtel, in a strategic partnership with AIA, I got to learn more about the StepUp wellness platform and its benefits provided by both Singtel and AIA. Moving into wellness, healthy lifestyle, fitness and nutrition segments, they would able to connect with their customers even better as the modern customers have started to take note of their health, fitness and wellness.

As a Singtel customer myself, I like this wellness platform StepUp because I walked a lot almost everyday, my daily target is 10,000 steps a day. With StepUp, I am able to earn up to 3GB of mobile data per month, just by walking and achieving my daily goal of 10,000 steps. This would add up to my current mobile data plan with Singtel, a great booster for me to have mobile data to use and keeping fit, active and healthy!

With StepUp, Singtel shows their willingness to engage their customers even further and closer, beyond just being a traditional telecommunications company. This is Singtel’s first time doing such a partnership together with AIA, two big brands in Singapore and in the regional markets coming together to provide win-win solutions for both of their customer base.

If you are a Singtel postpaid Combo, XO and SIM Only plan customers, don’t miss out on Singtel’s newly launched wellness platform StepUp with AIA! Just by walking and clocking 10,000 steps a day, you can redeem up to 3GB of local mobile data each month. Remember to Pay It Forward and Pass It On, this StepUp wellness platform!

Let me share with you more information below:

Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO, Consumer Singapore, Singtel said, “We want to encourage healthy lifestyles and wellness, and with StepUp, customers will be rewarded for their efforts to keep fit. We are always trying to find ways to offer customers products, services and perks to complement their digital lifestyles. Our partnership with AIA marks a shared commitment to champion the importance of staying active for life.”

Singtel’s strategic partnership with AIA is a first-of-its-kind between two industry leaders in communications technology and life insurance in Singapore. The companies will team up to digitally engage their customers on the wellness front and also co-create innovative insurance products relevant to customers’ increasingly digital lifestyles.

“Our partnership with Singtel redefines what it means to enable healthier, longer, better lives in today’s digitally-enriched world. Through leveraging Singapore’s digital advantage, our common shared value is to make a real difference in people’s lives, particularly when Singaporeans are spending more time on their digital devices such as their mobile phones and living sedentary lives. With StepUp, individuals and families can now take charge of their own health and integrate more active lifestyle habits into their daily lives,” said Mr Patrick Teow, Chief Executive Officer, AIA Singapore.

In addition, from 1 August, Singtel customers can also take on the AIA Vitality Challenge on StepUp to claim lifestyle rewards such as movie tickets, gourmet coffee and ride-hailing vouchers. Launched in 2017, the AIA Vitality Challenge is designed to get members more active through incentives for hitting activity targets. More than 178 billion steps have been taken by AIA Vitality members[1] to date – the approximate equivalent of Singapore’s entire population walking from the Causeway to Harbourfront[2].

[1] As at 31 December 2018

[2] Based on an average stride of 0.8m per step, Singapore’s population of approximately 5.6 million, and an approximately 25km walking distance between the Causeway and Harbourfront

To kick-start their StepUp journey and begin earning mobile data, all customers need to do is to log into My Singtel app, activate StepUp and sync their steps from their iOS or Android smartphones. In the next few months, customers can also look forward to more reward options such as a free Diet & Sports DNA kit by GeneLife to help customers eat and exercise well based on their DNA, as well as other rewards from PUMA and SingSaver.

To celebrate the launch of StepUp, customers who clock 10,000 steps a day at least once from now until 31 August will stand a chance to win an Apple Watch Series 4 or Samsung Galaxy Watch.
